Not a huge fan of leaving scathing reviews, but I've got to be honest this was the worst meal out I've eaten in years. The only reason I'm leaving 2 instead of 1 star is because the employees were nice and the service wasn't bad, they deserve to be the redeeming factor of this restaurant. We came here last weekend on a busy evening and it was a lively atmosphere. My husband and I have been on a kick with all these new chicken places opening up so we were looking forward to trying this one.
While ordering I asked if I could substitute the house sauce for ranch, which wasn't allowed. I asked what the house sauce was, to which I got the explanation it was "like fry sauce, but with Sriracha". Perfect, I love spicy and I love sriracha! I also ordered a side of ranch which was $1.00. On their menu screens, it looks like the ranch was house made based on the photo, so I was stoked to try it. To be fair, I should've asked if it was house made but didn't because most places like this that I've been to make their own sauces. My assumption was unfortunately wrong and for the $1.00 extra we paid for the ranch it was a super tiny prepackaged thing. A little disappointing but not a big deal, not worth mentioning usually. But then, the food.
My husband and I both ordered the original spicy chicken sandwich medium with fries. I can't tell you how many chicken sandwiches I've had, but I can tell you that I've never had one that tasted like literal sugar. I'm not sure if it was the batter or the sauce on the sandwich, but it was so sweet and overpowering. I couldn't even finish half of it without feeling super gross. The sandwich was spicy like it advertised but so overly sweet that the spiciness just didn't hit like it should. The fries were also drenched with sugar, and the house sauce that was supposed to taste like it had Sriracha, also just tasted like sugar. What is with that? I pretty consistently finish my meals or almost finish them and am not a picky eater, but I just threw most of this away because I couldn't keep eating it. I hope this place doesn't last and they replace it with somewhere that serves better food. Their apparent success across the country...
Read moreHouston Tx Hot Chicken (HHC) serves up a seriously spicy experience with their Original Spicy Chicken Sandwich. From the first bite, you'll feel the potentially intense heat of the perfectly seasoned crunchy breaded chicken breast, leaving you tearing up and sweating - in the best way possible. It's quickly become my new favorite!
For those seeking a milder option, the Hot Honey Original Chicken Sandwich offers a delightful balance of sweet and tasty, with a crunchy chicken breast, crisp pickle slices, and tangy coleslaw on a brioche bun.
With just about a month under its belt, HHC is already a hit among locals. Their menu isn't just about the heat – we also indulged in a Chicken Tortilla soup, bursting with flavor and a satisfying crunch. But fair warning, if you opt for anything above mild on the spice scale, be prepared for a fiery ride that might steal the show.
The crinkle cut fries that came with the sandwiches were seasoned to perfection, ranking as the best I've had in any restaurant. And let's not forget about the chocolate shake – a decadent cup generously drizzled with chocolate, filled with thick and creamy vanilla shake.
We also tucked into a Southwest Salad, beautifully proportioned and customizable for gluten-free diners. We opted to have the chicken on the side, giving us two large tenders to enjoy as a take-home treat later.
Houston Tx Hot Chicken offers a deliciously spicy adventure with something for everyone – be prepared to bring your taste buds along for the ride!
If you grab a table, the dining service is attentive for this casual dining experience. You shouldn’t leave hungry. I used to miss the place this replaced … yet now I am happy that HHC is here....
Read moreMy husband and I are in all the time. I always get the chicken tortilla soup and he gets the tender meal. Today we added the Mac and cheese. We come in so much the GM Damien knows me. When our food came out my soup was in a small to go bowl (I was in the restroom not at the table when it was delivered. There was no toppings (I asked only for cheese and tortilla strips). When I went and asked why my soup wasn't in a bowl I was told that is how the soup is now being served and the owners had made a change. I asked if I could have a bigger bowl so I could add my toppings and eat my soup without making a mess I was told they had no bowls anymore. I was eventually told they have a bigger to go bowl but it would look funny in it since there wasn't much soup. I was so disappointed and frustrated at this point I said I didn't care how it looked I just wanted to eat my soup without making a mess and I would like my toppings. I have attached a photo of the bowls we got the one in front that's red was soup, the white one was the Mac and cheese ( which is delicious btw) and the big one is what I finally got so I could eat my dinner. If this change is acceptable we will not be coming in any longer as now the soup is half what it was for the same price. The side of fries has also gone way down I'm quality too. As for the restaurant there were 3 children roller skating in the restaurant and not one employee said anything to the parent who sat oblivious while his children almost crashed into patrons and other employees. Roller skates and shoes should not be allowed where people are walking and employees should be taking to their guests about...
