I gave this place 4 stars based on the following:

Presentation, Customer Service, My Own Bias because I appreciate hard work...

The place is cute! Very new-age with their ordering and payment system! I love the outdoor seating area! And the owner.

You won me over bruh! Although I would've rated 5 stars if I could be VERY honest (I'm asian, so...). It's NOT your Mama's Ramen. To me, everything seemed to be marinated in the same sort of sweet type of marinade or sauce. The bamboo shoots that I added, the egg, the mushrooms, etc. ALL made the entire bowl of Ramen taste sweet. Which threw me off. I looked around and found no soy sauce... Not sure if I just didn't see it but, it wasn't my favorite tasting Ramen and I ordered two different kinds and they both tasted the same to me because of the added shoots and mushrooms.

Of course, like I said, I am a tough critic when it comes to Ramen because my mother makes it like a champ... But it was okay! I think if I hadn't added all the extra shoots and mushrooms and egg (which is all in the same flavored sweet type of sauce) I may have been able to taste the flavors of the broth more. I loved the presentation the most!

But my GOD how beautiful the experience, I have to say. And the owner is a one-man show, and THAT I give the upmost respect.

My husband absolutely adored the Kimchi! If you're here in Roanoke, you simply...

Absolutely the best Ramen and gyoza we have ever had, and we have had many! It's a shame that many complain about the wait time or seating rather than rate on the food and service. (Especially since it's well worth the wait and considering there seems to be only one person working)

Few tips: -If your concern is wait time please use the website to order ahead of time. It will give you a approximate time it will be ready.

-If you are worried about seating than arrive early or do take out. Simple as.

Experience Review: The chef was SUPER sweet and an amazing, understanding host! We sat outside in their picnic tables to not inconvenience him (large party of 7) and he brought out the food which was so super kind! He also asked us many times if we were okay, which was sweet of him. Ordering online was quick and easy too, just look up their name and you will get their website. It's not hard to understand.

I also don't understand reviews say Ramen is simple when it's not? Especially being so good and seasoned the way it is. My sister who is very picky even tried and LOVED it. Took some left overs home and ate it the next day and the noodles aren't the least bit mooshy.

Also side note: they have eco friendly disposable bowls which is a super plus in my book!

100/10...

Very small yet charming hole in the wall ramen bar specializing in takeout and, well, Ramen. I was in Roanoke for business, and so I popped in as I've been to numerous ramen places before, and I had a pretty good idea of what I'm getting into.

The food did not disappoint in any capacity, the serving sizes were adequate and the portions more than enough. I ordered the Shoyu ramen as well as both of their gyoza options, the steamed gyoza were about as good as you can get, but the sauce provided, I'm unsure of what it was, was an exceedingly nice addition, in hindsight I should've taken some home, it was that good. But the fried gyoza, now that's the stuff to write home about, covered in great sauce and fried to perfection, crispy on the outside, moist & wonderful on the inside, I almost ordered a second portion while I was there.

The Shoyu ramen itself was traditional, the broth was clean and went down easy, the additives fit it perfectly, and, as you can see, they don't skimp on the pork belly! You can tell that the chef has been working on the broth for a while, and it really shows in their product that they've mastered their craft.

Were I in town any longer, I certainly would have doubled back to try more of them.

Man I'm gonna miss that...

REVISED: First time dining in at this restaurant and the food was really good. The meat was seasoned well, the vegetables tasted fresh, and the presentation of your plate is beautiful. As a note, you have to scan a QR code to obtain the menu, there is no written version and there is very limited seating and space to wait inside. If it is your first time dining here, be aware that it is much better to order ahead since everything is online. When it is busy you can expect a 40 min wait, but normally about a 20 min wait. There IS a vegetarian bowl/vegetarian option, (see comment under review), but as typical, make sure to clarify which is being used for good measure. Otherwise, I commend the owner for their hard work and personable attitude in the midst of rush.
