On our most recent dining experience at PCT. We patronize more than a few establishments of K and M and have enjoyed being a customer. The restaurant model of a server taking orders and various assistants bringing out drinks and food is the way to go. But one thing stuck in our craw the latest visit. My Wife ordered a bottled beer and when requesting a "Mug" interpreted by our server as a "frosted mug" was told it usually doesn't come with that if it's a bottled beer. Come on, really? I've been to PCT before and ordered oysters so I knew before hand the last time they were served atop a plastic cafeteria tray which I felt was a bit unusual. But this time I ordered again and again atop a plastic cafeteria tray. Kabin Kruesers on the other hand , a variety of choices presented on crushed ice, cocktail sauce, a slice of lemon and perhaps some horseradish and saltines or oyster crackers. Befitting for the elegance of oysters and making a fine presentation. Apparently according to the reviews I'm not the only one taken aback. Serving oysters on a plastic cafeteria tray is the equivalent of serving Beluga caviar in a dog food bowl. It only takes a modicum of effort to elevate your cuisine from good to great, make it happen PCT! Otherwise PCT is a great venue, outside seating is cool and food and...
Read moreWe had a party of 10 at 1pm on a Monday. Everyone said their food was good. We found out afterwards there was a pair of burgers that were made right, but given to the wrong people. That happens. There was a little delay but not terrible. Our waitress was great. Our group sat under a canoe. They have unusual twisted potatoes that everyone said were very good. The people that had seafood or Vegimatic Tacos said it was prepared well, but they felt the portions were a bit small. The grilled cheese tasted good but is a bit expensive. It appeared to be two slices of processed cheese with a nice sauce. Most entrees come with a side. I thought the selection and addition of sides made up for the small portions, but a few in the group did not. It was not busy when we arrived, but it filled up thereafter. Our group pooled, but we had to get creative to find parking. I don't think this would be a great place for kids parties. It might be a little tight getting to the back room for someone in a wheelchair, but...
Read moreAlways great food, staff, and atmosphere. One of our favorites in Rochester. A great drink selection and always something great on the menu. I have dined in both with and without a child under 1 and they are always accommodating. I have seen dogs allowed on the back patio as well. If you have difficulty parking, there is a well marked path to a large lot behind the building near the municipal park. Park in the north east corner and follow the signs to the restaurant.
Side note- you may see PCYC (Paint Creek Yacht Club) on signs and glasses, named such due to a rowboat that used to be tied up in the creek nearby. Rumor has it membership cards to the "yacht club" were even handed out and used to gain access to exclusive locations such as St. Andrew's golf club in Scotland.
The location has been operating as a bar since 1934 and as far back as 1908 has been serving the Rochester community via popcorn and refreshments for the Detroit Urban Railway (D.U.R.) which had a repair barn and powerhouse...
