Great place to catch lunch if you're downtown, although it can get crowded and busy at times ... but for good reasons! Apparently word is getting around about this restaurant. Friendly smiling staff, good service, yummy food, plus the classic Italian-American sayings like "How YOU Doin'?" and "The Real Deal" on the backs of their uniform shirts always add a bit of fun. Today I came in for lunch and they were expecting me, since I once mentioned to them that I'm usually downtown on Tuesdays. Being greeted with a smile and a "There you are, good to see ya!" made my day.
Menu-wise, I need to try more of their offerings, but I just love their Sicilian pizza with its wonderful thick crust so much that I keep coming back to it! It's even better than the thick crust pizza I used to get at Waldo's in the 1990s -- much crispier, and served hot. Their desserts are great, too. I love, love, LOVE their tiramisu, which is as good as Olive Garden's or better!
As for the New York style pizza, it's pretty good. I'm not normally a fan of thin crust pizzas like New York style (I'm a Chicago deep-dish person), but these guys make sure the slices are served hot and crispy, not room-temperature and soggy. One of the guys working at their Thursdays on First booth told me, "We don't serve soggy pizza. Ever." He wasn't kidding. They will always heat up your slice of pizza to crisp and hot, which takes extra time but in my view is worth it.
Now if only they would serve some Sicilian pizza and a few of their desserts at Thursdays on First, they...
Read moreI've never been so disappointed in a place that I visited since I went moved to Rocheste. I've been visiting different establishments and trying to support the community. They had a so called special. It was $5 for two pieces of cheese pizza and a free soda I got to the register and it was $11.51. I told them I had ordered the special and the one gentleman was very condescending and demeaning and said well you don't have construction boots on otherwise I would get the deal. I have never had anybody ever be so condescending the pizza that I had wasn't that good ...to be honest horrible and I think being treated like I was as such made it taste even worse. I love Rochester and I love this community but when I have people out of town that love a Pizza I truly "won't" step foot in this place with them. I will go to some other pizza places that I've had recommended to me. I was told that Pasquale's what's more expensive than alot of other places that people have suggested. I wish I had visited the other places. The worst experience of this was the condescending manner that no one deserves to be spoke to in the manner that the man spoke to me I won't even call him a gentleman as a sarcastic and demeaning as he was. I as newcomer to Rochester will never go to this establishment again.I will not hold back in sharing the disrespectful way I was treated. I saw the ad on TV. It looked like a nice place to visit evidently not and in my experience the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE.THE BOTTOM line sell the Pizza but to heck with...
Read moreCame to Rochester becasue my wife was at the Mayo Clinic for two weeks. I was there for a week and I found this place just down the street from my hotel. Came in on Sunday night to pick up a pizza and Rafael helped me at the counter. I was looking around at everything in the store and Rafael came to talk to me. We started chatting about the resturant, the history, how he got there, etc... Just a great guy - cared about his clients. I watched that for about 30 minute. Great Pizza but I like NY style pizza, so... Told him our situation and he said "whatever we can do to help." So I told him I would be back. I came back on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. I got pasta and a sandwich one night, another pizza the next, got some deserts....and every time I went in there Rafael treated me like I was family. Introduced me to Pasquale and then I chatted with Pasquale for about 20-30 minutes, as wel. Went back on Friday to get a bunch of their stuff before we had to go home. Introduced my wife to them and they treated her like family. They told her that if she needed to stay longer....whatever she needed they would help. It's been a long time since I have felt that kind of "love" from a local eatery. Rafael and Pasquale are great people and they truly care about their product, the quality of the product, and the service they provide. And the food is great. Killer pizzas, delicious pasta and sandwiches....just a great place. I highly...
