The greeting we received when entering this dark business was a rude "did you come to look at some expensive chocolate?".

Then the owner told me he "highly doubted [my] daughter was going to like [his] dark, bitter, unsweetened chocolate" and then seemed insulted that I'd consider allowing it to cross the lips of a child (who I allowed to run her sticky kid-fingers all over his "do not touch glass" case after his unwelcoming tone and lack of people skills).

My daughter loved your $5.00 tiny piece of dark chocolate and wanted to go back for more. I would have purchased a box to take home had the owner not been a presumptuous and condescending business owner. So many other businesses with owners who are appreciative of customers.

These are handmade dark chocolated with, dark unique artesian ingredients...some are even taken from his garden.... He clearly takes chocolate making to a new level. ....It's worth the abuse he throws at you. I double dog dare you to ask him about the Aztec recipe or perhaps try eating your chocolates too fast in front of him or ask why it is so dark in there and that you thought it was closed because it is so dark. His abrasive personality was so intriguing...we went back in after we left to ask more questions. He did not disappoint. Haaaaa! We loved it! He is "The No Soup For You" or Adam from "Northern Exposure" Chocolate guy. The best chocolates and the most fun we...

Although the chocolate is indeed very good, the owner is truly unpleasant. He has got to be one of the most proud, pompous people I have ever met. He is snarky and thinks he is the greatest gift to God's green earth. So you make fancy chocolate in a dim lit, dank store in Rockford...save your money, it won't make up for the service and attitude you will receive here. I have been here multiple times to keep giving it another chance since the product is so good, but it isn't worth it anymore. This could be a really cool, locally owned store highlighting a cilinary artist in Rockford, but he will make sure to ruin your visit. Hire someone for the front of your store...
