The Music Box — Restaurant in Rockford Township

A great place for live music. The staff did a great job helping me out, I don't get around the best. I had a chance to see Kevin Kinney, people my not recognize his name he is probably best known for the band Drive n Crying. In addition to his solo career. Bobby Bare Jr. was on there too. He has a solo career. In addition, to being with Guided By Voices. If you every have a chance to see these two people together don't miss it. I was familiar with most of Kevin's songs, I've been listening to his music for years. He did at least one song of of one of his first albums. He also did a new Drive N Crying song. The new song hit home with me, Kevin and I are about the same age. It was about dealing with his mom and issues that go along with aging. Great song! Bobby Bare Jr., I couldn't stop laughing, I believe all of the songs he did delt with his relationship with women, lets just say he has had some problems. He was very good. If you ever have a chance both of these musicians are worth seeing. Both are great story tellers and from what I'm learning that makes a great song writer. The Music Box is a great place for live music. It is small and intimate, what more could you ask for. The weather was bad and I had to drive into Chicago after the show, so I wasn't drinking. Had an amazing time last night at the Mac Hanson show. Glad this gem of a venue is in Rockford. Such a great spot, the drinks, vibe of a room, and absolutely amazing staff. They couldn't have been better and did absolutely everything to make sure my father in law who has ALS didn't have any trouble and had great night out. Dan is the man. The drinks are great and creative. Mac was fun and the perfect band for my first visit here. I can't wait to enjoy more shows and cocktails here in the future! Decided to come here for the first time ever on 815 day! We waited a few minutes for a couple chairs to open at the bar. The live music was fantastic and not too loud. I’m really sensitive to loud music, so I was so happy I could just sit and enjoy. It was acoustic so I’m sure that helped. I got the Rockford Peach 815 special and it was very light and refreshingly peachy. My boyfriend got the pineapple cider and a shot of whisky 815 special.
