Arrived at Our Family Kitchen Restaurant at 324 TX-35 Bus Rockport Texas 78382 for lunch on May 21, 2025. We have eaten here before and have not been disappointed. We were greeted cordially and promptly seated! We ordered the Chicken Fried Steak, Cole Slaw and Fried Okra, and added a small order of Onion Rings. Disappointment set in when I bit into the Onion Rings! They were NOT even warm and although they looked Delicious they were not! Not as crispy, as before snd the coating was soft and of course not even warm! It appears they cooked them ahead of time and the “Rings” got soft and cold waiting to be picked up! I’ve eaten here before and they were absolutely great! Not today! The Okra was hard and tough, looked burnt and also not even warm. The Chicken Fried steak was tough so she spit it out since she couldn’t chew it through the gristle! You can see the beginnings of it on her plate. Again, not warm and neither was the gravy! In defense of the Gravy, even cold, it was delicious! Having stated my review we understand that sometimes some of the staff might not be having a good day! To cook fine meals you must have a good attitude, leave all worries outside the kitchen and cook with a lot of pride and passion! We will still give this restaurant our business! Go there, it’s still a Jewel!

Read moreI will start this review like I do with all my reviews - what I see and experience in a chronological order. The parking lot is full and it's Friday at 9:40am. I walk in the door and I see a display with homemade banana bread and free Bibles. I support freedom to choose and exercise your own beliefs and this area is full of Christians so it shouldn't surprise me. But just as I would like to go on Facebook and not see a political mosh pit, I would love to have some eggs and sausage without having to walk past a stack of garbage - having said that, I won't ding them with a 1 star just based on that. I promise to be fair. I ordered the 3-3-2 with sausage and no toast then I added two sides of bacon. Their sausage is really good and I am glad this meal came with 3 patties. The bacon was COLD. They really should've threw the bacon in a grill for 10 seconds when plating. The eggs were fried on both sides and the yolks were runny but they were a little undercooked and I had to finish them off with a spoon. Iced tea is fresh! Restrooms are spacious and clean, also gender specific. Lots of natural lighting and the dining room is not cramped. I can see why they have such a huge fan base. Oh, what they lost (on me) with religious literature, they gained on me with huge napkins. And the way they roll them is so perfect. Its the little things. Way to go y'all! I would love to come back!

Read moreMy wife and I were seated after a short wait. I identified the 3-egg omelette, as a KETO option for me and was informed when I asked to substitute the [hash browns or grits] and [toast or biscuits] with a single piece of bacon, that I couldn’t. I was offered a plain sliced tomato. When I asked if I could get avocado instead, I was rather coldly, or perhaps just bluntly, told by our waitress, “we don’t have avocado.” (Point of Interest: The 3-egg omelette was probably three small eggs, but I digress. It’s a tough economy out there for small businesses, as well their patrons.) After our waitress accidentally spilled hot coffee on my arm and digital camera, she was a instantly little nicer. I suggested to her that the restaurant was also burning me (paraphrasing) on price: One skimpy omelette and 1/2 a tomato, which by the way IS NOT an ideal replacement for KETO. I let the waitress know I was unhappy about the KETO option from a “paying customer perspective.” I also stated that she was somewhat rude to me about a simple food substitute question. In the end, she comped my meal but only after I suggested it. My wife said her pancakes were a little “doughy,” but everything else tasted fine. The omelette was actually very good. Too bad our server wasn’t. I think a missed opportunity for the owner here who I know...
