I understand a lot of folks are fans of BC Osaka however I have dined twice at this restaurant in 18 months and neither experience was that great considering their pretty high price tag. While their Hibachi Grill area is good option on both visits they were out of ingredients to complete your steak or chicken bowl (missing veggies, noodle options, sauces, etc.), yet you have one of the young cooks behind the grill checking his texts, not restocking the grill area very annoying, I told that needed to restock and he finally started moving (is that my job as a customer? Where is the Kitchen Managet?...Likewise the salad bar area on both my visits was sparsely stocked, not that clean. Some precooked entree items lukewarm at best, some out of stock, some items not looking too fresh. Decor and dining room tables very dated looking, some tables very wobbly, missing levelers, booth benches too low, not comfortable. Also bathrooms not clean, several employees checking their phones not restocking food areas or cleaning. Dessert area, again marginally stocked. My suggestion...cell phones go off during work times so people do their jobs, turn on only at breaks. The Wait Staff that seats you are marginally friendly. So rating based on old decor, non grilled items, dirty bathrooms, marginally stocked entree items and ingredients, marginal salad bar and dessert bar offerings and staff not on their game, greeters also marginal on friendliness I give them a 1 star. For having good food coming off the grill but marginal stocking on ingredients, I give them 3.5 stars, but the average for overall dining experience and value for the money...averages out for me at...

Went yesterday, was super excited to go with a group of friends. First off, the cashier seemed unpleased that we all wanted to pay separately but sit together (it was only 5 people). Then our friend holding the pager put it down and didn't feel it buzzing, so yeah, our bad but the host very sternly told us that they had paged us 5 times and to hurry up! Took our waitress forever to take our drink orders and she only came back once to ask us if we wanted refills. Many of the food trays were empty when we went up, which was understandable given it was Sunday evening. HOWEVER, it was not okay that one of the employees scooped up some of the lo mein noodles that had fallen off the tray onto the counter and PUT THEM BACK IN THE SERVING TRAY! GROSS!!!! Nearly all of the servers and bus people acted as though we were in their way when we would get up from our table. When I opened the ice cream cup I got out of the cooler it looked as though it had melted and been refrozen and the tiny taste I took of it confirmed its appearance. To top it all off our server was eyeing our table as we were going to leave and had the audacity to tell, not ask but TELL, us that we needed to leave a tip! When told we left the tip on the card one of us paid with she wanted to know how much! For the rudeness of the employees and the questionable food practices I witnessed the overall quality of the food was NOT...

First time at BC Osaka and was IMPRESSED!

Sunday Buffet Adult Price: $22.78 (8-24-25)

Clean facility (the staff was wiping down surfaces and sweeping any messes of the floor continuously)

TONS of variety on the buffet line

Hibachi grill stir fries the ingredients you pick out (and even had steaks!)

Freshly made sushi (there are people at the sushi station making the sushi in real time)

$21.40 including tax and drinks for an adult - is a fair price

The server lady was super friendly (I wasn’t expecting that)

I’ll definitely be back!

———— 1-17-25 update: Friday night had crab and a bunch of fish on the buffet, I’m not much of a fish guy, so not sure how good it was I had the steak from the Hibachi grill and it was really good price went up slightly to $21.70

————— 8-24-25 update: visited for the first time on a Sunday night at 4:03pm. The place was pretty busy, and the food was plentiful. For a handful of items you could tell they were sitting for a while, but the strong majority of everything was fresh. Even with the dinner rush I didn’t notice any food being out. the hibachi grill line was kinda long, which made me think of skipping the hibachi (which would have made me sad because that’s one of my favorites), but then I noticed they had 2 cooks at the grill and each cook was cooking multiple plates at once, which made the line move quickly - so there really...

It was my nephew-in-law's birthday celebration so the lady and I ventured out to Indiana to dine at the place of his choice. The upfront all you can eat price was extremely reasonable. The amount of food choices and stations were a plenty and overwhelming if it's your first time there. Everyone arrived back at the table with heaping amounts of seafood, chicken, steak and everything you could imagine from an Asian buffet. I purposely selected only a few items that I knew I would like because I intended to go back for more. However, to not waste food, I found myself picking at the heaping plates brought to our table from others in our party and I got stuffed. I walked around again to look at the food, take pictures and let what I had eaten digest. I headed back to my table empty-handed. Only the pictures can describe what mere words cannot about all the food around you. I can't say all the food flavors were memorable. Here. It's quantity over quality in my opinion, but it's very well worth it. The service was very good, the atmosphere was all about people excited to eat. Would I return? Absolutely! I feasted here for the cost of what I would pay for a modest lunch in Chicago.

BC Osaka is a great buffet and has been since it opened. While it seems like they no longer do the Benihana-style grill experience or even open their bar, the buffet portion of the restaurant is still booming. There are issues with some foods running out faster than others and staying empty for a bit but that occurs at any buffet. Sushi is of good quality and variety; the Chinese part of the buffet is par for the course including American-Chinese favorites like garlic bread and cheese sticks. ;) The "make your own stir fry" section is delicious but the variety of ingredients is small. Nevertheless it guarantees a fresh serving of whatever you want and the lines move quickly. Also of note are the excellent selection of soups and the ever-changing variety of desserts. There are a number of Chinese buffets in Northwest Indiana but BC Osaka is one of the best.
