When traveling, my family loves to find the small, local bakeries. From Old Orchard Beach pier, it was sooo worth the 15 minutes drive and small business pricing. Some may complain, but the skill behind these pastries are worth every penny! My dad and I agree that we don't think we've had a better danish anywhere. Perfectly flaky, crispy but soft, amazing fruit and flavor--I'm obsessed! I didn't try it, but my dad groaned from the deliciousness of the Cinnamon bun, so I take that as another compliment towards their pastry making. Oh and mom loves the blueberry muffin! Hopefully swinging back through tomorrow on our way out of town :)

Just discovered this little hidden gem nestled away on a side street. Amazing people working, super kind. Ample amount of garden seating with great sun. The iced latte and iced coffee was refreshing, and the pastries really hit the spot. I had the raspberry almond pudding bar - so fresh and a great size. My boyfriend had the cinnamon roll and said it was perfect. Saturdays are croissant day so we will definitely be back!

A quaint cafe tucked neatly amongst neighborhood homes. This house turned business is cozy and homely, with a warm and inviting main room with lots of natural lighting for eating. The coffee is delicious and robust, with many bakery options and sandwiches for your breakfast or lunch. Will be back often to try all the delicious baked goods.

Gorgeous treats! Everything was delicious, not too sweet, with emphasis on the flavor of the primary ingredient, e.g. the chocolate fudge brownie was deeply chocolatey and not buried in sugar, the cinnamon bun was spiced well with a little bit of a citrus aftertaste, and the dough was the right pull-apart consistency. The chocolate and vanilla cupcakes are moist and and hearty, and again not over-sweetened. The frosting was light and whipped, beautifully applied, and not overwhelming - the berry flavored frosting was especially nice, tart and sweet. Great customer service. My friend called in an order of a selection of goodies, and I was meant to pick them up in the morning - but I totally goofed and didn't get around to it until the shop called me a half hour before closing to let me know I had an order to collect. Tammy was very patient with my misunderstanding :) Wonderful small town family owned bakery. I really appreciate the COVID safety precautions as well - contactless curbside pick-up is still a very important safety measure, and I am thankful Fernleaf is making the effort to protect their staff and neighbors. Will definitely order special treats from these folks, and can't wait to enjoy a cup of coffee and a treat when they feel comfortable re-opening the cafe. Keep up...

A Saturday 8-17-2024 update

Always spectacular!!! Their pastries, cakes, pies, cookies & handhelds never ever disappoint. A very upscale classy bakery withe specialty coffee drinks etc… If you have never been you are missing out on something special.

So 2 days later I returned at 9:17AM & bought 2 Caroline cookies, 2 more tea cakes & couldn’t resist their gooey looking cinnamon roll.Outrageously delicious. Leaving the bakery I was welcomed to a ticket on my car for wrong way parking ($35.00) Shame on me I’ve parked in that same spot probably 50 times in 30 years. My feeling is Patrolmen Murphy #2101 saw I had a handicapped plate & could have come inside the bakery & told me I was parked going the wrong direction & given me a slap on the wrist. Whether you think I was right or wrong Patrolmen Murphy could have taken what I consider the high road & done the right thing for a handicapped person. Maybe the patrolman might think differently in the future on...

Really delicious. I had the pork hand pie and a raspberry Danish. Hubby had an everything bagel and a cinnamon bun. The hand pie was perfectly soft and crumbly. The one thought I had was if it came with a spiced Apple chutney to smear on it I think I would have dreamt about it for weeks. The Danish was the perfect pastry and just the right balance of tart and sweet, creamy and crispy. The bagel was full of flavor on it's own and super light and airy inside. The smoked salmon cream cheese was gorgeous and the cinnamon bun also delicious. Everything was served on cute mismatched antique China plates and the decor was warm and cozy. The place is out of the way on a side street in what looks like a three story white house. Be sure to look and not miss it. It's well worth hunting for. We will definitely definitely go...
