I came here because of the awesome vegetarian menu I saw online. The atmosphere and decor is nice, nothing too fancy but still pretty to look at. We were seated right away and our orders were correct. However, I started wheezing right away when I drank the water. I asked if it was infused with something. They said just the lemon slice they put in it. So I asked if it was tap? They said yes. I responded with it must be something in the pipes and shrugged it off and pushed my water to the side. The waiter corrected me and said it was tap but it came from the soft drink machine. Then it made sense. I have reactive airway disease and a huge trigger is mold. So I'm guessing their machine is NOT clean. I asked if they have bottled water, which they did not. I was tempted to leave, but I was also on a time limit so I decided to stay and hope for the best. I ordered the vegetable pumpkin curry, which tasted absolutely amazing. But my daughter ordered a wide noodle and vegetable dish. Both were awesome portion sizes. Enough to have some left to take home. Now I'm not sure it was the specific combinations of vegetables or sauce or what, but her dish smelled like urine, literally, urine. I felt really bad because I was really enjoying my food and my daughter was super bumbed out and she wouldn't share mine because she doesn't like curry. She settled for some sticky rice and we both enjoyed some thai iced tea. After that we called it a night, however I woke up this morning sick to my stomach and spent half the day running to the restroom. I don't know if I had a slight case of food poisoning, but taking the entire experience into consideration, it was deffinately enough to warrant a "Do Not Return" stamp of disapproval. Too bad, too, cause I really liked that...
Read moreThe first time I ordered take-out from this restaurant was two months ago. I ordered the eggplant dish for lunch - medium spiciness. It came with rice and a salad (unless you ask for the soup). It was delicious. I love the eggplants in this kind of dish.
This afternoon I ordered the same dish for pick-up. The gentleman that answered was kind. He told me ten minutes. After ten minutes I walked to the restaurant (3 minutes away from where I work) to pick up my order. The restaurant was almost completely empty except for one table (this is around 11:30 am, so it is expected). I got my order and returned to my office.
I love how they pack my meal in a reusable container and it's a sturdy one that can definitely be used over and over again. When I ate the dish, I was a little disappoint at the blandness of the chicken and the eggplant (barely seasoned) the liquid/juice of the dish was marvelous though. And it was spicy. The guy that took my order didn't ask how spicy I wanted it, but I noticed that on the receipt it said spicy. I don't mind the spiciness since it elevated the dish and wasn't overpowering. My only complaint is the blandness of the chicken and eggplant. I think they have the sauce made and just tossed the chicken and eggplant in it not allowing the chicken and eggplant to soak up the seasoning that is in the juice of the dish.
I've had similar dishes at other Thai restaurants and know that the chicken and eggplant should be taste similar to the juice they are in. I'll allow that sometimes it is harder for the chicken to soak it up.
Overall, it is good, but I wouldn't go there again unless I need to. I feel like it could be a hit or miss depending on...
Read moreAfter being a loyal customer of this restaurant for many years, I tried placing an order through DoorDash today for Bangkok 12, but my order kept getting canceled. I called the restaurant to find out what was going on, and they told me they would no longer accept orders from me because of one previous incident where they made my food extremely spicy despite my specific instructions. I had to request a refund for that mistake, and now they're punishing me for it. I explained that it was a one-time issue and that I had even contacted them to let them know what happened. It's unacceptable that they're penalizing me for their error. I only ordered from them because they were two blocks away from my house, but there are plenty of Thai restaurants in downtown Sacramento with far better food and customer service. I remember when this place was called Amarin back in the 80s and 90s, and after it was sold to new owners, everything started going downhill. Shame on this restaurant after spending thousands of dollars throughout the years with them. If you do decide to eat here, do not eat any of the seafood. It doesn't taste fresh. I stay far away from their seafood and only eat...
