My experience is not with the main menu. I went in to order from the Bar, French Onion Soup. I also ordered bread. Well, first off, I didn't get bread, I got 2 rolls, the can kind that you cook in the oven. Pillsbury boy kind, the big ones. They were both burned on the bottom. I ordered my soup from the bartender. The most that bartender said to me the whole time I was there was, "What can I get you?" I was sitting alone and there were 2 gentlemen at the bar next to me, one of whom worked there, so naturally, that's where the bartender hung out, talking & giggling & forgetting she had another customer sitting at the bar. It was a random waitress who brought my soup and Pillsbury rolls. I had also ordered butter, but, I had to ask the waitress for the butter. She brought the butter then I had to ask her for a knife which then she brought my silverware & napkin. At that point I was starting to get a wee bit frustrated. I finished my Corona before my soup & waited & waited to make eye contact with the bartender, but she completely avoided that. It was if I was invisible. So, finally I asked one of the waitress' who do I get my check from, them or the bartender. The waitress said I'd have to get my check from the bartender. Well, the bartender heard me ask the waitress that question & seconds later she more or less tossed the folder with my check at me without saying a word. Not, did I need anything else, how bout another beer, NOTHING! For that kind of service you will never catch in that bar again for any reason! The bartender was rude & grumpy. She not one smiled & in felt completely & totally ignored! All I can say is, "WOW!" It's a wonder your place is still in business. It shouldn't be. I'll take my business somewhere I feel welcomed & accommodated. That bartender should be ashamed of herself... The night I was there was Friday, January 26th, 2024. Worst service I've had in a long time!!!! I was quick to tell the gentlemen that was sitting @ the bar exactly how I felt. As I was walking out I leaned over & told him that I knew he worked there & FYI, that night was the worst service I'd had in a very long time. They will not get a recommendation from me, just a condemnation.... P.S. I'm not quite sure why the Mid town area is free of all homeless, the area around Safeway by 16th Street. I was told that cops actually clean up the streets over there if homeless but they don't clean up this area around 8th & K. Our tax money is just as green as the mid town people, but I was told the cops keep the streets clean & free of the homeless but not in our area. I'm gonna find out why that is bc I live here @ The Hardin next door on 8th & K & the homeless make beds & trash all kinds of spots in & around our building, & all their trash is everywhere, used rubbers, urine, poop, you name it & I have never not once seen a cop run them out the way they do in the mid town uppity...
Read moreYou should trust reviews. The service sucks and itâs casual dining with overpriced food. If you think this is equivalent to a Ruth Chris, Scottâs Seafood or a Mortonâs you are absolutely wrong! Itâs giving more Outback.
First off, Itâs not a huge place and there are several servers. They just seem careless or forget about you because you will wait at least half hour before you are giving a glass of water!
A coworker recommended this place to me saying the food and drinks were great. So I made reservations and we were greeted by the floor manager. She made it pleasant but when she left and our actual server came it all went downhill from there. Every time we ordered something even just two shots of tequila one was supposed to be reposado the other was blanco she came out with two blancos which there is a price difference between the two. She said my husband received the reposado but both shots were clear as water so noâŚboth were blanco! Weird because when we showed her she was trying to convince it wasnât blanco. We just dropped it and told her to make sure we donât get charged for something we didnt receive. Secondly after our appetizer came out (which took 45mins from when we sat down to finally order) our waitress took my silverware and said she will be back with new ones well she walked passed several times and obviously forgot so when our main food came out we asked the gentleman who brought the food and he forgot as well so we had to ask a third person at this time over ten mins went by and of course my husband was waiting to eat his food because I couldnât eat. We were both done with our food and again our server didnât tend to us for awhile. Once she did come she asked if we wanted our celebratory birthday dessert. Guess what⌠THAT TOOK FOREVER. We had to ask someone else to just get our bill because we were pushing two hours being there and we eat fast, I would expect to be in and out of a restaurant within an hour. She came over to take our money quick but after we went over the bill to make sure we werenât charged for the reposado I know she saw the celebratory dessert on the bill and ran quickly to the kitchen since she knew she forgot. She came out and had the audacity to ask if we still even want the ice cream we said no since we were over it, she was rude and seemed to not care plus we just wanted to get out of there! she just shrugged her shoulders and said ok! Worst service ever! The food is mediocre. I feel like itâs way too overpriced the old fashion was good but I will never come back to this place I guarantee this place will not last long. Definitely will tell everyone to stay clear. So many other really great steakhouses around which is actual fine dining and worth the price. Donât go here you will regret it! Also The smell in there is awful. Not sure what the smell is but it...
Read moreMy initial experience with Butcher and Barrel wasn't the best, but I decided to give it another chance two and a half months later. I'm thrilled to say that the second visit was a complete turnaround.
I recently hosted my husband's birthday party at Butcher and Barrel with around 15 guests. The food was excellent, and the customer service was amazing. The General Manager, Michael, and the Owner truly stood by their word, ensuring we had a great experience.
The drinks and appetizers were timely, and the food was served promptly. We had a variety of delicious options, starting with the bruschetta, which was beyond delicious. The fresh tomatoes and basil with the vinaigrette created an explosion of flavor. The Reuben egg rolls were a unique and tasty treat, the lobster bisque was rich and flavorful, the Caesar salad was crisp and well-dressed, and the salmon was perfectly cooked.
The grand finale was the Tomahawk steak, which was a showstopper. It was cooked to perfection and absolutely delightful. My husband and all our guests thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
We'll definitely be back to Butcher and Barrel. This experience has changed my view entirely, and I highly recommend it for both food and exceptional service.
Original Review March 2024
I regret to say that I can't give this restaurant a higher rating, primarily due to the disappointing service we experienced during our visit. We had made reservations for our 19th wedding anniversary at 8 am, and upon arrival, we were greeted by the hostess, who also served as our server. Despite our reservation, the service seemed disorganized from the start. It took quite some time for our server to take our drink order, and even longer for our drinks to arrive.
To add to our frustration, when we finally decided on ordering the Tomahawk steak, we were informed that it had been sold out due to a previous order. Although the general manager made a commendable gesture by offering to cover half of the cost of the Tomahawk on our next visit, and the owner personally apologized for the inconvenience, the disappointment lingered.
Despite our efforts to salvage the evening, our server's lack of attentiveness persisted. When we attempted to order alternative items, such as porterhouse steaks, we were once again informed that they were unavailable. At this point, the accumulation of delays and unfulfilled expectations left us feeling disheartened.
In conclusion, while we appreciate the efforts made by the owner and general manager to rectify the situation, our anniversary celebration was overshadowed by the numerous service mishaps. It's unfortunate that our experience was memorable for all the...
