Capitol Plaza Halls — Attraction in Sacramento

A big thank you to Rosalinda and staff for making our wedding reception wonderful! We were searching for a venue large enough for our 250 guests on 10/05/13, and The Grand Capitol Plaza Ballroom was perfect. The Grand is the ballroom on J St between 12th and 13th under the maroon awning, separate from the other Capitol Plaza Ballrooms, and easily housed all of our guests and allowed for the party we were imagining. We sat 8 people at each of the 33 tables and there was still plenty of room to move around and did not feel crowded at all, even with two beer pong tables, a large corner bar to serve many people at once, the DJ’s setup and lights stayed on stage, the buffet dinner table was up the whole time, and the big dance floor remained un-impacted all night so there was no need to move tables once dinner was done. We absolutely loved the size of the venue when we first walked in, and the price was very surprising – at almost half the cost of other golf courses we were looking at, so the decision was easy. Not to mention working with Rosalinda was great, as she has great knowledge on how to host a wedding reception and pays great attention to customer service. We had many ideas on non-traditional things we wanted to do at our reception, and she was very flexible and helpful in making our dreams come true. Also, since there was no event the night before, she let us set up during normal business hours the Friday prior, and remained very helpful in allowing us to pick up a few things the Monday after. And I almost forgot about the food! Everyone loved the appetizers, and we went with tri-tip, chicken marsala, and pasta station. All were delicious, but the chicken marsala was the surprise: we intended to go with chicken parmesana, but when we had our tasting, the marsala was to die for and our guests agreed! I definitely recommend The Grand to host any event, especially if you need to host a lot of guests and have a great time. It has been about four months since our wedding. I am extremely pleased to say it was really the best day i could have asked for. The staff was so attentive and they helped with every aspect from beginning to end. Their integrity came as a surprise as well. I was recently contacted by their staff letting me know we had over payed them and they were trying to get a refund back to me. This was so nice of them. I am so happy to have trusted them because they went beyond my expectations. I got married June 8, 2013 and the weather was not in our favor. The high was 110 that day, the staff did everything they could to make sure our guests were comfortable and they supplied water. They did an amazing job, I truly did feel special from the beginning to the end. The facilities are amazing as well, the vintage feel is all over the place. It's like walking into a fairy tale book. My husband and the best man are food masters, so it was hard to find food that was good enough for our special day. After reading many reviews on the Capital Plaza food we decided to give them a try as well. Enough said my husband would not let us find any other venue. The food was exquisite and we received many compliments from our guests. Highly recommend this venue, and their staff. Rosalinda and Mary are amazing...

Location easy to get to and affordable parking less than two blocks away. The banquet hall is on the lower level and seems a little dark but a creative hand can turn the space into a beautiful setting. We had our company holiday party there and there was plenty of room for approximately 140 guests, a dessert bar, food tables, and a number of other tables/podiums, etc. There's space for a bar, and a quaint little elevator takes you up and down if you don't want to subject your heeled feet to stairs. Bathrooms were cleaned and well stocked. There's an entry area before you walk into the banquet hall where our photo booth was set up. All in all, a good location with the makings for whatever theme your imagination can...
