UPDATE: Management reached out and they are addressing everything! This is such a great business, they are on it! It goes to show a truly great company who tries their hardest to meet the needs of their customers THANK YOU!
The food and drinks are delicious and the servers are amazing! Games were fun and ambience was great!
Now for the negative which is 1 big one.
My disabled friend was made to feel demeaned and uncomfortable.
After a rough week of MRIs, doctor appointnents and caring for her 3 kids as a single disabled mother we had the idea to surprise her with a night out. I researched Coin-Op for their ADA accessibility. They have a lift in the entry area to lower you down to the bar when you arrive because you have to take stairs down into the patio entry area then go to the front doors of the bar.
We were dropped off by our friend right up front so my friend with the walker would not have to walk far.
We waited in line with 4 people to get our Ids checked. Security saw us arrive so he knew that there was someone who would need the lift. We got to the front of the line and the Security Guard told us "Hold On" We waited 10 minutes as he radioed someone in the bar. The person he called showed up and the Security Guard said "The Lift is broken so you have to walk around the block and I will let you in to the side building and you can take the elevator." To have waited 15 minutes before finding out the lift was broken...I could have had us dropped off on the side street to make things easier for my friend. And to have stood their waiting for him to pay attention to us and tell us what was going on...(I get that some people don't know to consider the feelings if others but it was sad) We decided to give Coin-Op the benefit of the doubt and made the journey to the side alley. The bouncer met us at the door and let us in after saying he "thought we would never make it" (um my friend was in a bad accident hence why she is disabled, she went from having no use of her body from the neck down to now using a walker...I think shes doing pretty freaking good!)
We enter the rickety elevator, the interior covered in drop cloths when I casually ask the security guard how long the lift has been broken....A MONTH!!! PLEASE PLEASE don't let our disabled friends feel like an inconvenience or uncomfortable. A simple sign saying "lift is broken ADA please take side entrance or ask security for assistance" would have helped A TON. AND train security or the door man to see a disabled person and help them and accomodate kindly and considerately. ALSO Please place a ADA table in the corner or something where someone can sit in a regular chair where a wheelchair could roll up to? There were regualr chairs in the patio area, but you can't bring drinks out...
Read moreThis bar is a great place. I don't know if it makes a big profit, but irregardless, I am definitely jealous of the owners of this establishment. In addition to the great layout, the great and place appropriate decor, the bar has a great selection of sophisticated cocktails and beers on tap. But the best thing hands down about this place are the amazing games. It's not just a hodge podge couple of games with a Mrs. Pacman in the corner, it's like a curated collection of all time great video games arranged loosely around chronological popularity. It has all the greats. It also has a pretty good pinball machine section. Also, it ain't like Dave and Buster's. The games are all reasonably priced, most all of them being a quarter. And the games are also well maintained, with working buttons and joysticks. In fact, as a long time Galaga player, as it was in the pizza shop I worked in 30 years ago, I must say that the button on the Galaga machine is the best, most responsive button on an arcade game that I have ever encountered. I had the best game since high school, and I only played two games, one warm up, and one high scoring mega game for 30 minutes. My only lament is that I choked 490 points away from the high score! Anyway, I love this place, and will definitely be going back next time I am in Sacramento! If you go, seriously, check out the...
Read moreUpdate: after my recent visit on 05/24/2019 I've decided to never go to this place again. Games still have issues and the service was atrocious. Evening started out fine but then a wave of club rejects hit it was straight into the latrine from there.
Bartenders (all 6 of them) had no awareness whatsoever and were odviously serving friends over everyone else. At one point I noticed a guy standing at the counter waiting as 7 people just stepped in front of him. One of them ended up being a place holder for that group and proceeded to chain order drinks for 20 mins (at this point I had watched this as I stood in line the entire 20 mins).
When the guy who had been blatantly skipped for about 30 mins asked if he could just get a beer the bartender proceeded to berate him that other people were there first and he needed to wait... which wasn't the case, then proceeded to talk to her friends and ignoring everyone else.
This saint of a gentlemen calmly asked another passing bartender to close his tab in which (at this point my entire group was also witnessing this) we instantly closed 5 other tabs and went somewhere our money was welcomed. If anyone remembers how Republic went down then this is following the same trend.
Old: Beer selection is fantastic. Pizza is decent. More stars if the games ever...
