Forever by 18 Grams — Restaurant in Sacramento

Around this time of the year I love finding and consuming holiday-themed beverages (i.e., adult beverages, coffee); therefore, I was excited when a friend & colleague of mine suggested that we catch up over coffee. Highly recommended by a friend of mine, I suggested that we meet at Forever by 18 Grams. Since I am quite familiar with the 18 Grams brand (we have one close to our home in Elk Grove), I looked forward to the possibility of receiving the same exceptional customer service and product that the Elk Grove location produces.

Upon entering the establishment, I was warmly greeted by an employee named Jessie who patiently waited as I perused the menu. Probably sensing my mild frustration, my friend thoughtfully pointed out that there were two seasonal drinks on a separate menu (yay!). I opted for the Christmas in 87 (I was three years old at the time) peppermint iced coffee. Less than five minutes later Jessie kindly delivered my order to our table.

While catching up on over a year of various experiences, I enjoyed my delicious drink while my friend enjoyed her breakfast sandwich (which looked quite appetizing and would have been part of my order had I not already eaten breakfast). Being a music enthusiast, I couldn’t help but notice the cozy sounds of R&B/Soul on heavy rotation in the establishment. Solid. Been looking for some good mochi waffles in Sacramento for the past year and this place delivered. The Ube Mochi Waffles and Chicken were perfect. The chicken was crispy and aromatic while the waffles had a perfect amount of chew and that smooth ube flavor. We also got the steak sando which was also impeccable. The cuts of steak were perfect to where you get the right amount of meat per bite but not too much meat where you’re yanking out an entire piece of steak. Ambiance was nice, typical brunch vibes, busy but lively. Interior is aesthetically pleasing. This is an order first and then set down with your number type of restaurant. I got a pandan coconut cookie (green) and the sea salt cream iced coffee. Cookie was VERY sweet--and packed with more powdered sugar on top. I could only eat half and save the rest for later. The coffee was horrible. Served in a tall glass full of ice, the drink was instantly watered-down. Mixed in the cream, hoping that would save it, but no. Ended up with a huge glass of watery, salty milk. Coffee wasn't brewed strong enough to be prepared this way. Wasted $5.50 bc I had to abandon the drink.
