My friend and I were looking forward to trying out this place. The food was ok but the service was terrible.
When we came in, it took awhile for them to bring out waters and a menu. I walked up to grab the menus, but that was when the waiter finally took notice and brought that out to us. We both ordered fish sauce wings to share and the two pho options that they offered. The fish sauce wings were good but the pho came out late. I had to walk up to the register to remind them again! They apologized and said they would bring it right out. We waited an additional 10 minutes on top of the 30 min we waited for the pho. The flavor of my pho was good but my friend was not a fan of her pho tai nam gau. The broth came out lukewarm instead of steaming hot. On top of that, we had a family get seated after us AND got their pho before us. They apologized that they were short staffed but that doesn’t even make sense if they served another family before us! They just forgot about us. They also never came back to refill my water! It was a disappointing experience overall. We wouldn’t come back or recommend this place. They didn’t offer us even a discount for poor service!
Restaurants these days are opening up left and right! You have a bunch of competition. How do you expect to have returning customers if this is how you run your restaurant? I also think it’s annoying that waiters do the bare minimum these days and expect at...
Read moreMy special compliment to their customer service. Honestly very different with all others vietnamese restaurant. The server comes to check on every tables often and filling water. Very friendly and nice. Good food portion. Let say. This's the only place in Sacramento I can get the "Bún Đậu Mắm Tôm" - vermicelli with fried tofu and assorted pork meat with shrimp paste sauce. The very authentic Northern dish from Vietnam. It's very complicated and takes too much time to prepare this dish so better I come to have it at restaurant. The Ha Noi Style Pho has light/ clear simple broth. Northern pho is all about balance, with fewer spices and garnishes compared to its southern counterpart, allowing the beef's natural flavors to shine. You have to go for flat fresh noodle. It will be the perfect match for Northern Pho. "A must try" Nice clean restaurant with cool wall painting. Restaurant had few parking spot in front. The rear parking has more spots but make sure keep car locked and hide all stuff in side as all downtown of big city always crazy. We never know !!!! Overall, very good experience at 36 streets! I dont know how long it has been opened. I'm so glad to check it out.
Hope ppl will get to know and come to support the Vietnamese authentic food.
Definitely i will...
Read moreI first experienced Hanoi 36 streets as a food truck in San Jose. It introduced me to a dish I never heard about till now: the net roll. The net roll is like an egg roll but much crunchier and crispier as it's fried inside a rice net. Now that that they have a restaurant in Sacramento I decided to make the journey to go experience the restaurant for myself.
Eating the pork noodle bowl with net rolls was fantastic. Its even better in the restaurant. The net roll was fried to perfection and the pork was well seasoned and tasty. Not only that though, the noodles absolutely fire, I don't know how or why but they were dry. Most Vietnamese cuisine, I usually notice the noodles are a bit dry but not Hanoi 36 streets. Highly recommend my dish. I even hear the pho is good too, so I will be back eventually to try it.
The customer service was excellent as well. You order yourself and food comes out to you. Though service may be delayed at peak hours which is understandable. The owners of the store make for a homey experience as they come and ask everyone how the food is. I would get this more if I had a way to teleport to them...
