I ENTEREDTHIS RESTAURANT AT EXACTLY 1000 P.M. FRIDAY 28 SEPT 2018. AT 1001 PM BEFORE I COULD EVEN PLACE MY ORDER THE YOUNG MAN AT THE CASH REGISTER TOLD ME: "WE ARE ONLY DOING TO GO ORDERS NOW." I DO NOT WANT TO EAT A BURRITO IN MY CAR. I WANTED TO HAVE A PINT OF PACIFICO ON DRAFT WITH MY BURRITO. I WENT OUTSIDE TO LOOK AT THE HOURS OF OPERATION POSTED ON THE WINDOW TO SEE IF MAYBE THEY HAD CHANGED. NOPE. STILL SAID OPEN TIL 1030 PM. I WENT BACK IN AND TOLD THIS KID THAT I HAD NEVER HAD THIS HAPPEN AT THIS PLACE BEFORE AND THAT I WOULD HAVE FINISHED MY MEAL BY 1020 P.M. I TOLD HIM THAT I WOULD BE CALLING HIS MANAGER OR SUPERVISOR TOMORROW. HE KEPT SAYING:"I'M SORRY." I TOLD HIM: """YOU ARE NOT SORRY- AND LET THE RECORD SHOW THAT I TRIED TO PLACE MY ORDER AT EXACTLY 1001 PM." I ALSO TOLD HIM THAT I REALLY DID NOT BELIEVE IT WAS THE RESTAURANT'S POLICY TO TURN AWAY DINE-IN CUSTOMERS ONE HALF HOUR BEFORE CLOSING. THIS WAS JUST IN CASE HE WOULD LATER TRY TO SAY THAT I ARRIVED JUST BEFORE CLOSING TIME. I DROVE TO THE TAQUERIA ON 39TH AND J ST AND RECEIVED MY BURRITO AND XX BEER ON TAP AT 1020 PM. THEY EVEN COMPED ME A SMALL DISH OF FRESH GUAC TO GO WITH IT. SATURDAY A.M. I PHONED THE RESTAURANT. THE WOMAN WHO ANSWERED SAID NO MANAGER OR SUPERVISOR WAS ON DUTY. SHE ASKED ME WHAT HAPPENED. WHEN I TOLD HER SHE TOOK DOWN MY NUMBER AND PROMISED ME I WOULD GET A CALL FROM A MANAGER ON SUNDAY. SHOCKER ALERT-- IT IS NOW 11 P.M. SUNDAY AND...
Read moreI got the steak ranchero, which was a simple dish that wasn't heavy with seasonings which I like, but most people might actually find this dish bland. I however, don't have any complaints about the Steak Ranchero. My husband got one super taco and one crispy taco. He didnt like one of them, not sure which one it was. I ate his left overs and I didn't see anything wrong with the tacos but I also didn't think this was anything special as far as Mexican food goes. Now what surprised us both is how awful the chips and salsa were! I mean, how do you even screw up a basic appetizer like this? The chips didn't even taste like chips, more like stale bread or cardboard? No flavor, couldn't even taste the corn in the so -called corn chips. And the salsa was one of the most awful tasting things I've ever put in my mouth! I did like the pico di gaio, tasted just like any that I've had from other places. Overall, we were both totally unimpressed. I've only ever been to one other sit down family Mexican restaurant that wasn't delicious, and that was in the middle-of-nowhere Mississippi! We are visiting from Portland and we expected better than our hometown could offer. Bummed out and...
Read moreI came here with my co workers for lunch yesterday to beat the cinco de mayo crowd. Also my work people are on a quest to find the best taco in town and yesterday was the start of our adventure (I did not order a taco). I totally forgot that I been here before but it was along time ago when I used to live downtown and it happened to be on a dreadful day that I had gotten dumped! It was awkward to reminisce that story & all of those memories.
Anyhoo...I love Mexican food and this place is good... I have had to better but I still like this place for its perks and I would totally come back. I ordered the small nachos which had plenty of guac and sour cream and a chilli relleno à la carte. I thought that the nachos would be much smaller... If I knew how big they were I probably would have only ordered nachos.... Wayyyy too much food for me! Everyone else ate the tacos and they looked delicious.
Pros- salsa bar, clean facility, and I love that they have staff that come and clean your table and take your plates.
Cons- parking lot is super tiny. It's easier to park at Safeway...
