As an avid taco enthusiast, I was excited to try Mas Fuego for the first time since I find it great to have an upscale-like Latin fusion restaurant & bar in the Natomas area. Since my overall experience of the restaurant for the first time, I was mildly disappointed in the food.
The atmosphere and customer service were fantastic. It has a nice, well-lit bar with a good amount of TV's with all your favorite sports needs, both local and national. The restaurant is complemented by the contemporary colors that makes it an inviting place to both dine in and enjoy drinks with friends and family. Add to it, the customer service was great, with warm greetings from staff and quick, attentive service at your disposal.
With that being said, I found the food to be satisfying yet underwhelming, leading into a slight disappointment in the overall eating experience. While they have an ultra-fine menu of what you'd expect from a Latin fusion restaurant (tacos, chips & salsa, etc.), I was not impressed by the taste of the food. I ordered three different kinds of tacos, along with queso fundido as an appetizer. For start, the presentation of the tacos were great; very nice, vibrant, and colorful to the eye. However, the tacos that I had (carne asada, carnitas, & fish) did not have an impactful flavor to them based on their ingredients. Usually the first bite of a taco can make or break your palette; therefore, all three tacos were bland with little to no seasoning, had no exciting flavor to them, and were extremely underwhelming in texture. Even the queso fundido just tasted like bland nacho cheese and the salsa provided tasted store bought.
Overall, if you'd fancy a place where you can have a good time with drinks, friends, and games on, then you probably wouldn't mind the food to go along with that. However, I've had better at local taquerias and other more upscale Latin/Mexican restaurants where the flavors hit your palette with the desire of wanting more. I give this place a 3/5 due to the...

I had the misfortune of visiting right before the live music started, and I quickly realized that I would not be having a conversation over dinner. This extended to talking to the wait staff, which made ordering VERY interesting. The music itself was fine, I just needed it like 60% quieter. I didn't go to the club tonight, I don't need to feel the music in my feet. My favorite part of the performance was when the musicians left the stage to continue playing not-live music at deafening volume.
The food was bland and hilariously expensive. When I saw they wanted $11 for a bowl of chips and salsa, I expected some mind-blowing chips. What I got was cold chips, and a selection of hot sauce, watery salsa, and sad guacamole.
The fajitas were unseasoned. Legitimately, I have put peppers, onions, and chicken in a skillet before, I know what they taste like without being seasoned-- the fajitas were unseasoned. They had this sort of artistic presentation they were trying to do with the rice and stuff, but the net result was that I had to finagle like six different oversized petri dishes around my tiny table to try and assemble my fajitas.
I can't say much for the decor because I couldn't look up from my table for more than five seconds without the band's light show shooting a laser in my eyes and blinding me.
The staff was very friendly and prompt... Or at least they smiled a lot, I don't think I actually heard anything they said over the music, so I'm giving them the benefit...
Read moreHere is my constructive criticism. Arrived about 745pm on Saturday 2 Sept 2023. The atmosphere is nice and clean. Limited menu because it's a soft opening. Drinks: Ordered a hennessey and coke. The drink was made right glass size was above average but $12.00 for regular hennessey. Should be $9-$10 range. My guest had a maragrita with salt on rim. Because the salt crystals they use are big some salt fell in while making a drink, it was very salty. She sent it back for. a mojito. Food: Ordered taquitos as an appetizer, it was bland, the tortillas were very light almost like they were baked and no tomotoe with the guacamole drizzle and very dry. When I think of Mexican I think spicy and flavor. I'm a foodie it was bland.
The 5 or 6 TVs were playing but lost reception because they deal with comcast which anyone who lives in the Natomas area knows it is bound to happen often.
Decided to trythe questo. It was inviting and hot when arrived but again bland. Should be topped with a lil jalepeno, cilantro and tomatoes..
Staff: All nice, however, they eat where they want on break. They should have a designated area. Also saw the staff eating while working mainly chips but to be behind the bar and stuffing chips in mouth is crazy.. Also, the male bartender did not know the menu. They all should know the menu. Music: I like R&b but Ray J sexy can I or a song with are we f^ing tonight won't cut it. I'm 46 so I appreciate variety. Not sure who does the music
