Nice restaurant. Not really sure what to say about the experience. It just wasn't good. None of the food options delivered to the table were the outstanding quality that I would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. I love a good steak. I purchased a dry aged KC strip. Bone in. It should have been the best steak of my life. Instead it was undercooked, under seasoned, tough, and a very poor quality cut. Not sure how it was possible. The sides were cold. I ordered asparagus and only received six spears. How is that even a portion? The fries would have been amazing if they were hot. But that was a massive portion. *EDIT* I wanted to add a couple things to this review and it was much more brief than I usually write. First, I understand during Covid that staffing is an issue. I did notice that the restaurant seemed a bit frantic that night. I very rarely saw our waitress, and when I did, she was always hustling. I am compassionate about this, but it doesn't change the fact that you are still a business and we can't even sacrifice quality. Second, I wanted to run through the meal again to add a bit more detail. The first thing we received at the table was a beautiful loaf of bread. As the partner of a life-long baker, there were some flaws in the product, but overall it was warm, addictive, and massive in portion. We did not order any cocktails this evening. Or wine. We started with a split Caesar salad. While the preparation was clean, excellent quality on the lettuce, good portion of cheese, and of course fresh black pepper - the dressing was flavorless. I could see and feel the dressing evenly distributed on each bite, but I couldn't taste it. We ordered two steaks. The large bone-in prime rib eye, cajun style, medium and the dry-aged KC strip, blackened, oscar style, medium rare. The Prime cut Rib Eye was perfectly seasoned; however, slighting under cooked. This piece of meat was superb; however, I only had one bite as it wasn't my order. As stated above, the KC Strip should have been the star of the show. If it has been cooked to the same temp as the prime cut with the same seasoning level, that would have helped. The hollandaise was very good, well prepared. However, the crab meat was a bit under-whelming. It was a bit cold. Perhaps that is what threw the dish off for me. We ordered two sides, the truffle parmesan fried and the grilled asparagus. The Asparagus while not as hot as I would have liked, and the portion was sad, it was delicious. Probably my favorite part of the dish. The fries had a massive portion and I bet they would have been so much better hot out of the fryer. They just say too long in the window. Also, I didn't get any truffle flavor, but they flavor was still good. For dessert we shared a slice of Key Lime pie. Can't really complain about the pie, but I also wouldn't give it a gold star. It was good. However, and I know this had to do with being short staffed, please don't serve an ice cold piece of pie on a almost too hot to touch plate. Thanks again for a nice evening. Please know this review is not to insult to disparage the restaurant. I know Morton's can do better. I have dined in several of your facilities in the US; however, this was my first visit to the one in Sacramento. I know you can do better.

My family and I had a reservation at Morton's for 8:30pm. We were a large group, 6 of us were seated at one table and 5 at another just beside. As the table of 5 was served promptly and in a timely manner, my table of 6 waited over 10 minutes for water and bread. After we finally got water we waited another 12 minutes to have our order taken because our waiter Kimberly took that long to come back. Then we waited nearly 35 minutes for our food to come out. All while the other party of five was already served by a different waiter and eating. Once Kimberly took our food order, we sat way longer than you should at a prestigious restaurant such a Morton's without her checking on us and giving us updates. I had to leave my table to let a manager (who was full of unacceptable excuses) One being- "if yall arrived at 830 and it's now 933 then you haven't been waitng an hour for your food becauseyou didn'torder soon as you were seated." But It took Kimberly a long time to even take our order. We were ready to order. From 830 arrival we got our food around 945. We were so upset and saddened at the servicewe were experiencing. We would've walked out had our other guest been having the same experience. Kimberly never apologized and she was rude and obnoxious. The manager did not do anything to make it better but give many excuses. After waiting for so long we were ready to go after eating. I asked Kimberly for the bill and for to-go boxes as the waiter next to us packed the food in the boxes for his guests, Kimberly just sat our boxes on the table. She took the bill and went to the table in front of us and started having a friendly conversation with her other customers laughing and carrying on as if we weren't waiting. As if we hadn't waited long enough. Kimberly was very inconsiderate. I couldn't believe her behavior. She had just served them. I watched the entire time. They didn't ask for her, she could've checked us out. It was like she started taking her time to annoy us more because I spoke to her superior. I had to get up again and ask a manager to please check us out. Kimberly rolled her eyes and rudely said, I have other customers you have a good night!" I ignored her. No matter what Kimberly's defense is or no matter how many excuses given by the manager, good customer service is felt and appreciated inevitably. We should have left there feeling satisfied even by Kimberly and the managers going out their way to come to our table and acknowledge our wait and apologizing and even asking if there was anything they could do to make it better. Communication is very important and appreciated. They lacked communication skills and compassion for...

Yikes. I can't believe I am about to give Morton's, the flagship American Steakhouse a mediocre review. But.... I am.

Freely admit I have very high expectations for a trip to Morton's. I know going in that I am about to pay a handsome sum for a single meal but I do so excited as Morton's should deliver at every level. But alas...

First, the service. Our server was very cordial and friendly. She simply lacked the level of professionalism I expect from a meal of this expense. She did not clear the original wine glasses and bring the appropriate glass for our wine selection. The apps came out and we had to request sharing plates. Then we had to wait for drinks to arrive. These are small things but at white table cloth fine dining I expect them to be done.

Apps and salad were beautiful but my wedge had no salt and the heirloom tomatoes were out of season and too bland to be served. They should be sourced elsewhere or removed from the menu until the season is right. We had crabcakes that were wonderful. Nothing but good things to say there. However, the ahi tuna tower was a fun recipe but a cheap cut of ahi. It lacked the deep rich fatty taste of ahi and the kitchen was heavy handed with the sesame oil.

Skipping to the side, the creamed spinach was very good, not special but just fine.

Now the steak: wow... just Wow. As always, Morton's delivered a wonderful steak cooked perfectly to order. We had the 42oz Porterhouse for 2 and it was out of this world. The problem is that I expect Morton's to have a heavenly steak( As they did ).

Cap all of that with a bathroom that had towels across the floor and we simply had a mediocre meal to the tune of 400 big ones. Did they do anything specifically wrong or egregious... certainly not. Was our server friendly, welcoming, and did our food arrive as requested... yes, absolutely. Did the food taste good and especially the steak that is their claim to fame... yes.

But, this is Morton's of Chicago. Where they used to wheel out a cart of beef and you picked out your steak. The servers were seasoned professionals who timed your meal like a ballet. Every item was chosen for its perfect presentation. This, unfortunately is not that same Morton's.

I have not given up on Morton's as a whole but I will not be returning to the Sacramento location. It just isn't that different than the * Roadhouse places and...
