They host local shows there after 8pm and every show I've gone to, the girls that work the door always have an attitude that make you feel unwelcome. I understand switching over to a venue at night changes the dynamic- but approaching people at their car immediately on arrival asking for admission money or you need to leave isn't the most inviting feeling when you're going to an event you're planning on enjoying. The venue is small, so it's understandable that it is difficult to maneuver about when you have a full house (and with tables bolted into the floor)- but getting up in someone's face and telling them that you're in their way isn't appropriate. I'm another guy in the crowd, not some drunk jerk disrupting the event. Offering to help staff clean up as courtesy also results in a sarcastic response. Very off-putting as someone who is pretty heavily involved with local music and that supports other businesses in the area. I can get over the small size, being crowded with tables and less than stellar sound- but having several negative experiences with the staff and negative feedback from others that attend/perform at this venue, I'm giving it 1 star. Drinks are also expensive. Management needs to talk to their staff on common courtesy. I don't look forward to attending future shows here and wouldn't feel comfortable coming here during the day either. Take it with a grain of salt. Hope those things...
Read moreI visited this coffee shop today around lunchtime, and it was unfortunately a disappointing experience. The place itself has a cute, cozy vibe, and the furniture gives it a lot of potential, but the service and coffee left a lot to be desired.
When I walked in, the girl at the register just looked so unhappy, almost like she didn’t want me there or didn’t want to be there herself. It made the whole interaction feel awkward. Then, the guy who made my coffee was overly chipper in a fake, robotic kind of way, and it just came across as completely ungenuine. When I went back to let him know the coffee was bad, he just gave me coffee from the same coffee pot. He didn’t even refill the coffee pot — just gave me a new cup.
The coffee itself was terrible. I’m someone who really loves coffee and has tried it at a lot of different places, but this tasted burnt, sour, and just weird. No amount of cream or sugar could fix it. I ended up going to a different coffee shop afterward because I thought maybe it was me, but the coffee there was way better.
I don’t think I’ll be coming back, but the shop itself has potential. If they can improve the quality of their coffee and address the service issues, it could be a decent spot. Maybe they should rethink who supplies their beans and put more emphasis on customer service.
Tl;dr - cute coffee shop, bad tasting coffee, and negative aura points for the who worked...
Read moreCompletely unpretentious and balanced espresso drinks matched with very friendly staff make this place a perfect neighborhood cafè. They offer really cool and unique drinks and locally sourced juices and food, so there's that angle. Along with Temple, both have a long and notorious history of mistreating staff and placing coffee culture way above it's station, leading to a strict regimen which produced great coffee and consistently perfect espresso drinks.
I cant tell you how many times myself or a coworker left a shift crying and exhausted though, so u tell me if a $5 latte is worth all that? So they elevated the art and brought a lot of credit to the art in Northern California which is cool, though I wonder if a more supportive approach has been implemented because I remember back in the day going to Naked Lounge in Chico and staff always seemed a bit...nervous, let's say- When they came to sacramento I was like, Oh boy. Here we go... Expanding business, expanding egos? My experience within that industry says yes, overwhelmingly. Now going into various Temple and Naked Lounge locations, I think they finally got it right. Everyone looks happy and the products are still A+ Well...
