My 1st visit here I brought my closest friend out to celebrate her birthday for dinner. I was so excited to try vegan Thai food. I noticed the place on Google a month earlier. The place is very nice and pleasant and situated downtown in a nice area. Our only issue was parking but it was still doable just a bit inconvenient. I'll elaborate later. So we arrived early enough to scope ou the area and parking. My friend parked on the other side of the park. I parked across the street ahead of the restaurant. We were seated immediately, there was no wait. The restaurant wasn't crowded but, also wasn't empty. We had good timing for arrival. The people began to come and the restaurant filled up more after we had been there for a short time. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. The thing that threw me off was her knowledge about happy hour time and what drinks were available. When I 1st asked she made me believe it had ended at 6 and then when I about drinks she only offered 1 type. So I asked if she was sure because I saw sparkling wine 🍷 as an option on their website on Google. She went to ask someone else and not only did they tell her a variety of drink options & shots they told her that happy hour was until 7pm. I believe we had arrived close to 5:30pm. We took a while to decide and then we placed orders that included appetizers of tempura vegetables & vegan spring rolls. I ordered Thai vegetable fried rice and my friend ordered the vegetable pad Thai noodles. Our food was yummy and drinks were perfect. I had 2 Tequila shots and I think she had some type of ginger beer or something like that. They let her taste and choose what she preferred and I thought that was nice too because her drink was served in a tall glass. We had fun! We laughed, talked, and reminisced. She opened & loved her birthday gifts... I left a nice tip and we headed out. We wanted to walk around after dinner because the rain 🌧 had subsided but, parking proved to be too much of a challenge so we walked for 5 minutes and then we prepared to leave and then we left the busy downtown area and headed home. We definitely enjoyed the restaurant intend to come back and try more food and drinks but, we'll most likely ride together next time in 1 car to remedy the...
Read moreI had a laughably terrible experience here. We came for my mother in law's birthday on a Sunday night (Jan 28th). There was no one in the restaurant when we showed up and I had called ahead to tell them that my MIL is vegan so they would have a heads up. It took at least 10 min to get us drinks...there were 3 people working and literally 1 other guest in the restaurant (it was actually unclear if he was a guest or an employee). We were a party of 5 and 2 people weren't drinking.
It gets worse. My FIL asked if they had any Thai beers, the waiter said no and then brought him a beer list that had Thai beers on it. My SIL asked the waiter what panang curry was and he said he didn't know and did not offer to ask anyone. My MIL ordered the vegan larb salad, they brought it out then came back probably 5 minutes later (after she had already eaten some) to tell her that they messed up and did not make this salad vegan. We are still the only people in the restaurant at this point. The waiter would not tell us what was not vegan about it after we asked him. Shady. They did not offer any discount.
We got our food in good time, but my SIL found a large piece of plastic in her curry. She went and told the waiter and he shrugged and walked away. She then found a hair in her food. I then found a hair in my food. Upon receiving the bill, everything was still full price despite them serving my vegan MIL a non vegan salad, the plastic, and 2 hairs. Not to mention horrible service.
Not sure what happened to this place. I used to live right behind it and ate here all the time...I remember it being so much better. I will not be returning here, and will instead choose Coconut on T where their food is delish, service is quick and good, and prices are cheap. I'm sorry we wasted our money but at least we know not to come back.
Get better...
Read moreI've been here a few times prior, food and service were fine. This time we came on a Friday. They were busy. Our waitress was running around like crazy. Apps were ok, but a little greasy, got the combo, it was just OK. We split a meal it was good, although we ordered medium spice, there was no spice. The issue came with the bill. It was $40 something. I didn't even look at the bill. Paid. Tipped standard 20% (about $8) based on the bill. Then the waitress comes and asks for another $9.67. I didn't understand why and all she could say is my CC didn't pay it all...how? I check the charge in my CC app..$50. 2 $17 plates, rice, soda, tip. How can I owe more?? I tell her she's wrong. She goes to Manager. Comes back. Insists my card did not pay the full bill. What? How? So I ask to see the bill. Ends up I was overcharged by $8.95 for an app I didn't order. So I don't owe you, you owe me. It took more than 10 minutes to resolve this. Just sitting there waiting for them to figure out what to do??? They refunded me the appetizer cost I didn't order. But that was it. No apology for over charging me and then trying to charge me more. No explanation of why or what prompted the additional charge to my table. Then I think about this later. The tip and tax were based on the bill. So I still overpaid. It's not really the money, but the principal. I was pretty disappointed in the way everything was handled. They should have refunded the transaction and billed me properly. I feel like they were trying to get over on me. Oh. And the bar won't make off menu drinks despite a full bar and they were out of the cider we wanted. Overall funky experience. Management...
