Kind of surprised by all the great reviews here. Our server who was also the bar tender was dry and impersonal. (I've noticed most places are when you have kids however) My son ordered at hot dog which they served chopped up on a burger bun. For an average kid this might not be an issue but he's neurotypical and couldn't eat it. Not sure if they were out of hot dog buns or if this is normal but a heads up should be given. I ordered a spicy chicken sandwich. I asked if they had bleu cheese and he said "NOPE only cheddar" Sir bleu cheese is a dressing that goes on buffalo wings but I digress. That being said the bleu cheese wasn't needed because there was nothing spicy about that sandwich. If anything it was needed to assist in the dryness that crumbled in my mouth. The soda tasted off. Not sure how to explain it but when you give a kid a sprite they normally chug it. It was left behind. Patty melt and BLT must have been good because husband and daughter ate it all but that's the only thing I'll give to them. Also not cute how they throw the food in paper bags at you. They need to work on their approach and service. They're lucky they're in a high traffic area or I doubt people...
Read moreFirst had trouble getting seated, which ultimately is more the fault of the USVI government with their 6 person per table limit when our group on vacation was 7, although the staff weren't any help in sorting out the situation. One person in our party wasn't hungry and went to hang out elsewhere. Of the reminder, they only took orders for 4 of the 6 people. When the other two tried to put in their order, they were informed the kitchen was closed because the cooks had to hop the last ferry to St. Thomas. If your cooks have to leave before closing time, kitchen close time should be prominently advertised. After that, we were informed they were out of hamburgers, so all the orders were changed to hot dogs. Then we were informed ALL the food was gone. We come to St John regularly and I won't darken the doorway of this...
Read moreAfter a day at Salomon and Honeymoon beaches, we hiked back into Cruz Bay. Tap & Still had caught our eye the previous night when we were at Woodyâs, so we decided to try it. Tap & Still is at an intersection in Cruz Bay, with lots of car and foot traffic, at least by St. John standards.
The place was packed! The staff seemed a bit overwhelmed, but everyone was friendly. The bartender was super helpful to my wife in selecting beers for us, and getting our order completed. We managed to squeeze in along the front railing, overlooking the street. My wife had the BLT, and I had the black bean burger. Our food came in paper bags (fun presentation), and we shared some fries, which were outstanding. We each had a local beer, an excellent choice. When youâre on the island, drink the local beers! You wonât be...
