This was recommended by friends to be wonderful. We arrived a 6:30 and asked to be put on the wait list for a table. This is very common here especially now because restaurants are so crazy busy with the covid vacationers from USA. The gentleman said the wait was about an hour to an hour and a half. We said good and went to have drinks at The beach bar Until we were texted for our table. We were seated finally at 8:30 after the two hour wait which was ok since we knew the wait can be long but we asked to have one of the other tables that were opening up in the main dining area instead of the entry which could have happened easily as two tables were paying and leaving as we spoke. We figured they would say yes since there were only two parties waiting at this point and we were one of them. We were told no and that the kitchen was closing in 30 mins. The other party behind us was seated 3 mins after us at one of the other free tables in the main dining. We placed our order.. accepted our spot and waitress was very sweet. As we sat there though the other staff were rolling trash bins past our table and smoking right outside the restaurant which was enjoyable to see and smell. Anyway dinner was about to come out.. they were very quick.. but they said there was not enough rice to go with the mahi mahi and would we mind if someone had mashed potatoes... I said that was fine but my daughter and son were given rice which was the bottom scrapings of the pot and were crunchy and only about 2.5 tablespoons worth. Barely any tropical fruit chutney and the fish was so salty. We felt like we had downed a bag of Doritos worth of salt. They basically used what they had left and made no new rice. I do not do this often. My husband was very angry though and rightly so. He spoke to the manager and told him some of our issues and the manager was polite and said sorry.. it’s end of season, short staffed etc. and we get that but at 29$ a plate it should be edible. My daughter and I hid a lot of it under our napkins, my son ate it all but he is also 6’3 and was absolutely starving at this point. To make a long story short my husband asked for at least one meal to be compensated for. He should not have even had to ask honestly. So at least that did happen thankfully..... but was not offered. Every meal leaving a chefs kitchen should be quality checked. Also if you cannot finish filling a plate don’t sell it and most importantly if you have a guest coming in don’t make them feel as if you are inconveniencing the kitchen by giving them your business. We will not eat at this place ever again on our future stays and do not recommend. We love Lovangos, or Beach Bar, Morgan’s. Mango, Roti king ( up on the hill in the big red bus) or even the north shore deli( I wish it was open tonight we went home hungry) All of those places were wonderful and excellent quality. Again our waitress was a sweetheart so this does not reflect her...

Read moreDON’T RUIN YOUR TIME ON ST JOHN HERE DON’T RUIN YOUR TIME IN CRUZ BAY BY STOPPING HERE: This place has the most rude staff I’ve encountered in the entire USVI after 2 weeks here (don’t want to condemn the entire staff but no one could save us from this woman) She was SO SLOW, RUDE and PATRONIZING then asked me to put on shorts to be served when I was wearing a shirt long enough to cover everything with bathing suit bottoms underneath. I’m a mom here with my family and was far from dressed inappropriately. She never made eye contact, was rude as hell and humiliated me in front of my family and others. Avoid this place. Walk another block into the market and eat at Cruz...
