Googled it as I was in the area. I live in St. Pete. Pulled in and asked a guy who worked there if it was ok where I parked. It was empty (6 spots and I parked) and he literally wouldn't answer me. I said excuse me three times. I said I'm going to get a burger, is it ok to park here? He says "go to the office" That's it. Rude. I go to the office. I told the guy where I parked and the guy in there is like "No, you have to park in the 4 spots in front only." Also, rude. No please or thank you or how are you today ..nothing. Not friendly and blunt. The parking lot out front wasn't nearly full and where I parked it's out of the way and not where anyone else would park and no signs saying I can't park there. So, I had to go out onto the main street (busy with traffic) and pull in a different entrance. I park. I go to the bar / restaurant on the beach and there are only 6 chairs. Also, it needs to be said it was not packed. There are no chairs in the front of the bar which is about 12 feet across. There are 4 on the right of the bar (in direct sun). Two on the left, which were occupied. I sit to have a beer and a burger. I order. And, I'm getting hot as my back is in direct sun. I said can I just sit over near the service bar. He's like no the boss gets mad. So, finally I move my chair near the corner (all the way over out of the way), but in the front of the bar so it's not quite as much sun. After about 10 minutes the other bartender says "you're going to have to move that chair on the side" which is in the sun. That's exactly how he said it. No, hi or please or anything. So, I canceled the burger and paid for my beer and left. I met 4 people who work there and 3 were straight up rude. I will never go back. Terrible customer service and they literally could care less (this was the attitude of every single one of them at this MOTEL on the beach). As you can tell from the reply to my review by this establishment, they have an attitude. I stand by my review and yes, I will go to a beach bar where I don't have to sit in direct sun on my back while I eat my burger. Where I was parked was fine as I wrote I was near where the guy does the laundry far away from the main lot. I only went there due to the burger review on Google. Also, all of your strict rules may be fine, but it's the way you speak to people. That was my main issue! I guess you can't get that point since it's true. Also, by the way, there are many reasons people want to be outside but can't sit in direct sunlight. Google it. My...
Read moreAn unexpected gem and a must stop on your way through! It is even worth the drive if it is out of your way, just for the view, ambiance and quality of food! I wish more hotels cared this much about the quality of food that they serve! Many restaurants don’t even put out food this delicious!
Food: The best burger and chicken we have eaten out in recent memory! The chicken kebab was enormous and could be easily shared by two people. The flavor was excellent and the sides all plentiful. The cheeseburger had a slice of cheese across the top you could measure with a caliper! Fresh meat, juicy and delicious! The salad was plentiful and so big you almost needed a separate plate to put some on in order to dig in, very sizable portion. Had a group of adults and teens and no one struggled to find something on the menu and everyone was pleased with their selection! Not much of a wait at the counter to order, and the food came out quickly! Drink refills were not a problem! The only downside which isn’t really a downside, if you are trying to eat healthy, is they must not have a deep fryer in their kitchen, no french fries or sides with the burger.
Service & Atmosphere: Was an unexpected surprise, definitely remaining on our list visit after picking visitors up from TPA! What a cute boutique, hotel and patio area. It was June when we visited later in the afternoon so definitely on the warm side but an ocean breeze and shade umbrellas made it tolerable. Steps away to get your feet in the sand! Only unknown was where to park when patronizing The Sandbar only, all the signs in the parking lot say hotel guest only and all the parking across the street is patron only for those businesses… it is great to see an old hotel with lots of stories to tell that has been reinvested into and kept up! You can tell they’ve definitely put a lot of work into it since the last string of storms that came through. A beautiful place to sit and enjoy a drink, an appetizer or a meal with friends! We will definitely be...
Read moreWe are locals and usually enjoy going to Sanbar Bill's to watch the sunset or just hangout. The family owned business is usually very attentive to guests, and we usually have a great time. Tonight we went to the bar at happy hour, and were treated so rudely by the bartender. She ignored us for some time when we sat down, then, when she finally decided to serve us, she didn't offer alternatives for wine, or beer, just threw a glass of wine in front of us, and told us that Miller light or bud light was what they had. The attitude she displayed was appalling. We were going to leave when the owner showed p with her daughter. Surprisingly, the bartender suddenly became very attentive, and friendly, and continued to be so with others. This person is terrible for this business and should be fired. The owners are trying to run a decent business, and this person is killing them without them knowing it. If we ever go there again, if she's there, we will certainly...
