I made a list of places to eat and visit while celebrating our anniversary and my birthday. La Croisette made the list because I have a slight obsession with all things croissant.
La Croisette is conveniently located right on Gulf Blvd. It can not be missed with its pink exterior, bright blue canopy and checkered floor outdoor seating. It has parking in the back. Not much & a little tight, but parking nonetheless.
We were greeted immediately. Given the choice of where to sit. "Anywhere that's open" Not much was open. Lots of guests. We chose a nice table, corner window. Our server greeted us immediatly, offered me cofffe, "yes, please" My husband is the king of apple juice.
The menu has plenty of offerings. Eggs in any form, scrambled, omelettes, benedict, even quiche. They also offer breakfast burritos, pancakes and waffles. But croissants are king here. Not toast. They serve drinks of all kinds, juices, coffee, hot tea, iced tean, milk, hot chocolate milk and milk. They also serve cocktails, mimosas, bloody marys, etc. And although, not on the menu they also offer specialty coffees like mocha lattes.
We ordered, I got the croissant sandwich, which is two eggs scrambled with anything you want, ham, veggies & cheese, in between sliced croissant. My husband went with home fries, scrambled eggs with cheese and croissant as his "toast".
The food is ok. The positive, big portions for the price. I like to feel full and satisfied. The food was hot. Negative, the eggs were a little to over done for me, but maybe I should have specified. The home fries were nice and crispy, loved the big chunks of onions, peppers and mushrooms. The croissant lacked flakiness and flavor. They were so bland. I doubt they are made in house, which is not a big deal, but wherever they get it from, they reheat in the microwave. That makes them limp. The coffee was also not good. It was disappointing. I ate it, I was hungry. But if they were to read this, I would suggest they improve on croissants and coffee.
The service is good. We were checked on frequently. Our server...
Read moreWe were staying at the beach and checked this place out for breakfast. The food was good but the service was terrible until our wonderful server came and got our order. We waited about 15 minutes until someone came to our table. We tried to get another waitress’s attention to get a kids menu since the gentleman who sat us didn’t pay attention to the other three guests in the party and only spoke or looked at my husband. Didn’t bother asking if we needed a kids menu. But the waitress whose attention we got gave us a dirty look and was so rude. It surprised us so we just asked if she knew who are server was instead of asking her for a kids menu because she was so put off by us getting her attention. We were sitting in this small back room right by the bathroom which was fun and when there was a line and people were just staring at us eating while waiting in line. We saw about four different servers while waiting for someone to come to our table and no one would dare make eye contact with us. Even when the gentleman who sat us who came back a couple times to help other tables. Once our server did get to our table the service was wonderful. But I’m not going to lie, I almost walked out after waiting so long and being treated terribly by the other server. Nothing is more disappointing then going to a restaurant and being treated like we are a bother and putting them out. They acted like we should be lucky we got a table. We had amazing service back when we came here before when it was a different restaurant. I am leaving four stars for our server who was great but everyone else we encountered was definitely 2...
Read moreWe had a very disappointing experience at La Croissette. We arrived for a party of two and waited outside in the rain, which we were prepared for. When I checked on our spot, we were next up, but I noticed another party of two was called before us. Upon checking the list, I saw that our name had been crossed out. The staff acknowledged the mistake and did seat us immediately after, which we appreciated given the weather.
Once seated, things did not improve. I understand it was a holiday and they were busy, but our server made no effort to acknowledge the situation, which would have gone a long way. When taking our order, she never asked how we wanted our eggs — they just arrived scrambled (and barely warm), which I didn’t want, but my wife was too hungry to send them back.
We also ordered French crepes, but they didn’t arrive until long after we had finished our first plates — and they too were cold when they finally did. The menus we were initially given were soaking wet, though to the server’s credit, she did replace them without issue.
I ordered tea with honey for my wife, but the server dropped off the tea without eye contact or a chance to ask for honey. When I later requested straws, she rushed so much that one fell on the floor. Lastly, they mistakenly charged us for a croissant we never ordered.
I understand holidays can be hectic, but the disorganization, lack of communication, cold food, and inattentive service made for a very disappointing visit. Sadly, we won’t...
