Had the rudest service last Tuesday. First note: The workers we saw were in their phones as we came in. Second note: Was not busy, we were a group of five and chose a table - it was dirty so cleaned it with an antibac wipe.
Bought $106 worth of food - paid cash $120. Instead of handing me the change, the woman says, ' You're a large group and there is a mandatory large party gratuity', as she made eye contact and stuffed the $14 change into the tip jar. I said, 'A $16 fee?' She said, 'it's only $9!' (Obviously, math is neither of our strong points.) I looked at the second woman behind the counter, she says nothing. She's on her phone. Stunned, I walked back to the table and told my family what happened. Considering we were getting our own water, and I had to wipe down the table...a $14 strong-armed tip seemed steep. Third note: Also - those mandatory gratuities are already worked into your total - this was interesting as the MG was in addition to my check total AND just happened to equal ALL MY CHANGE from the $120. Wow! Many comments at our table - whilst we puzzled this 'tip' situation, she suddenly appeared and said, 'Here's your money back'' and shoved it into the table.
Fourth note: We are all over 18 years old. (Some of us are better at math than others.) We weren't super messy or anything. So. I had one of my kids put the money back in the tip jar.
And the five of us - (and everyone else who asks us about breakfast places) - will never ever ever go back to Flatbread and Butter. I mean, honestly, we only went there because our favorite breakfast place is closed on Tuesdays. Lesson learned.
Too bad bc the food is decent - pricey,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFlatbread & Butter is that ex you swore you moved on from⦠and then you bump into them lookinā better than ever, holdinā a slice of hot honey pepperoni pizza, and suddenly youāre spiraling again.
That pizza? Sweet, spicy, bold, exactly the kind of chaos I fall for every time. Crispy crust, pepperoni with a lil attitude, and hot honey that knew exactly what it was doing. I wasnāt ready⦠but it didnāt matter. I was in too deep.
Then the iced coffee pulled up like, āYou miss me?ā Cold, smooth, and dangerously charming. Woke me up, got my heart racing, then left me questioning everything by the last sip.
The cafĆ© decor? Soft lighting, pretty plants, a good amount of tables⦠the kind of place that makes you feel safe when youāre vulnerable.
š Parking? Look⦠itās complicated. But when youāre in love with the place, you overlook the drama. You tell yourself, āItās not that bad.ā Next thing you know, youāre parallel parking sideways just to feel close again.
Flatbread & Butter? Yeah⦠weāve got history now. And Iāll probably be back....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDelicious coffee and pastries in an oh so charming, and very St. Pete kind of way. This makes my local āGem š of a Placeā list. Location couldnāt be more adorable, right on Round Lake. You can sit at the window bar and sip a latte, have some avocado toast while watching the ducks play (or nap). They also have tables inside and outside available if you have more than 2 people in your group.
Parking is not amazing so if possible, I recommend biking or walking. There is a bike rack directly across the street in the park with plenty of space.
Staff are always very friendly and helpful. Iāve been a couple of times and never had a bad experience! I highly recommend the pastries in the case, avocado toast, and black tea with macadamia nut milk! Very reasonably priced with nice portion sizes for fresh food from...
