Happy to see a new Mexican food option in st pete. Finally. The staff was attentive and friendly. They have an expansive menu with margaritas, tacos, burritos, quesadillas, enchiladas, and specialty items.
The dining area is pretty big. Front of the restaurant has tables, booths, and bar seating, as well as a dining section in the back. There’s also some seating outside front of the restaurant.
We got seated right away and was offered chips and salsa to start as we look through the menu.
We got a margarita and Paloma to start which were okay, a little on the milder side without any memorial qualities.
For food we got the chicken quesadilla which was flavorful especially with the side of sauce it comes with which was very flavorful. We also got the molcajete which comes with chicken steak and shrimp with peppers onions and cheese along with a side of salad, rice and beans. The flavors were good, tastes fresh, but was a little on the milder side. Overall good experience, will return to try their...
Read moreTried this place on a Tuesday night with high hopes of a new Mexican option in town. Sat at the bar. It was fine. Enchiladas and fajitas were perfectly adequate, but pretty average. Margaritas were okay. Guac was clearly out of the fridge judging by the temperature, and surprisingly little cheese on anything for a place with those items in your name. The guys working there were nice enough but need to focus on the basics. We need napkins and silverware. Refill the water and the chips. Pace the food so the guac app doesn’t arrive 2 minutes before the food. When you order an app some little plates would be nice… or at least the napkins. The interior has promise but lighting at night is far too bright, the lights over the bar are strangely positioned too far over the stools which doesn’t help when they are at full brightness. All in all there was nothing really wrong, but sadly nothing to make me choose...
Read moreThis is the kind of place you want to see succeed but worry that it will not last. Right now, it has a bit of a trying to be chili’s sort of feel. The service staff are all very nice, but need help. We had a pretty much ask for everything, including napkins. The margaritas are sweet, even though they don’t use mix. It made us feel that maybe they are weak on the tequila. We thought maybe adding some spice to them would help so they gave us each one slice of a jalapeño and charged us $1.50 each for them. The tacos were pretty good. The chips and queso seemed store-bought. They gave us a very small bowl of queso and charged us $9 for it.
This place has potential. We hope they get more help, figure out their pricing, and make margaritas that taste legit. We also hope that they buy some decent chips and stop ripping people off for crappy, grocery store...
