I was not impressed by the ice cream. However, I felt the cashier was very rude. I know it was late, but the attitude was unnecessary. We went in, and we're not sure what we wanted. I asked for recommendations, and he said everything. I laughed and said that wasn't helpful. When we were ready to order, I asked for a churro sundae with the dulce de leche dip and vanilla ice cream. The cashier stared at me for a moment and like he was waiting for something. He responded, "Didn't you read the menu? We only sell vanilla. " I stood "Okay well that's all I wanted." I was reading the menu, and he stared at me waiting for something else. I didn't know what he was waiting for. I just reread the menu out loud of what I wanted, and I pointed out that it said dip or flavor and toppings. I chose dip, so it's no flavor or toppings. He then responded rudely by saying, "That was a misprint. OR Flavor isn't supposed to be there." There weren't any signs saying that that we could see. No where on the digital one behind him did it say anything. My friends and I were confused. There were no signs stating that the only flavor of ice cream was vanilla, either. We were going off the one behind his head. I just picked the first thing in the topping list, Oreo, just to complete the order. My friends were frustrated by the situation. They ordered what I got. We didn't react to the rudeness because we just wanted our ice cream and didn't want it tampered with or ruined. We didn't appreciate his condescending tone. I know he was tired and all and had been dealing with drunks all night due to Gasperilla, but the rudeness was uncalled for. My friends and I, we were completely sober and just wanted some ice cream on a warm night after a stressful week. This place was the only place open at that hour. I won't be returning. The ice cream was okay, but the service is ultimately why I rated this the way I have. We came in laughing and left disappointed and insulted. We didn't deserve to be talked to like we were dumb. There was no...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe were driving around St. Peteās in search of a good dessert spot when Google led us to Chiki Churros. With a strong 4.8-star rating and a ton of positive reviews, we walked in with pretty high expectations, excited to try something indulgent and unique.
The concept is greatāchurros paired with sundaes and different toppings and dips. I went with the sundae that had a churro and Reeseās peanut butter topping, plus I opted to add a maple glaze drizzle. While the presentation looked fun and Instagram-worthy, the flavor and texture didnāt quite live up to the hype.
The churro itself, unfortunately, tasted like it may have been sitting around for a bit or possibly refried. It lacked that fresh, just-fried crispness and softness you hope for. Texture aside, the portion of Reeseās was pretty underwhelmingāthere was maybe a quarter of a single peanut butter cup on top. Given how prominently it was advertised, I was expecting a bit more.
The maple glaze was generously appliedāmaybe a little too generously. It ended up overflowing and getting all over my hands, which made things messy quickly. In hindsight, I should have grabbed a few napkins before heading out.
Overall, it wasnāt a bad experience, but I was hoping for more considering the rave reviews. If the churros were made to order or at least fresher, and if they were a bit more generous with the toppings, this couldāve easily been a 5-star visit. As it stands, Iād say itās more of a 3.5-star experience rounded up. Iād be open to giving it another shot, maybe trying a different...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe had the WORST EXPERIENCE hereācanāt even say if the churros or shakes are good because we practically had to beg for a single scoop of ice cream after waiting an HOUR. It was an absolutely horrific experience overall.
We arrived later in the evening and saw a sign that said there were no more churros for the night. Fair enough. After placing our order, we realized there were two orders ahead of us that had been waiting over an hour for three ice cream shakesāand the customers were understandably getting angry. When the two girls who had been waiting so long asked about their order, the employees seemed too āexhaustedā to complete it, let alone offer them the proper service they deserved. One employee began berating one of the girls, which led to several customersāincluding usāasking for refunds.
The other employee then called the manager because he wasnāt trained to process refunds, trapping us in this nightmare even longer. The two girls ended up asking for scoops of ice cream and left, visibly upset and without receiving their refund.
After that chaotic scene, we just wanted to leave with maybe an ice cream scoop each. But before the second scoop was handed to us, the same aggressive employee said, āThose girls should have been appreciative of me because I could have popped off in a dangerous way.ā At that point, we decided it was best to leave this unstable situation and take the loss. Still not sure if we ever got our...
