Kahwa coffee is as close to perfection that a cafe can be without going to Marigot,St. Martin.Nicely appointed and spacious.I like the fact that the table and chair atmosphere is more appropriate to having a nice beverage and your pastry than the slump into a random couch or two normally exibits. The tables and chairs outside also offers sun and shade while appearing that twenty or more customers can share a semiprivate moment. There is rarely a line so no pressure. While your drink (sometimes the most important of the day)is being prepared the somewhat antique glass pastry case houses your ability to select the perfect baked good.So good that I tend to linger and load in my calories for certain.Yhe pricing is very reasonable and it commands one to drop that dollar tip or more for the pleasent service you get from the barista.Anytime it can happen a lovely design is staring at you Like a work of art.And I enjoy the heart design. It seems to exemplify the care and love appointed in the service. There are outlets and tables for those who want to get on a laptop and the floor space is never cramped for room. The bathroom is very nice and spacious and architecturally well done.Good craftsmanship throughout. And needless to say but every thing is kept neat and clean.Bicycle rack on the corner and nice wide clean sidewalks. The traffic flow is steady but not enough to ruin the light hustle and bustle feel of a small cafe in Brooklyn.Lastly I will say,I really enjoy the basic vibe of the clientele.Everyone is upbeat,no stress, and I have sensed appreciation coming from the locals to the tourist first timers.Pleasent surprise, and a permanent destination for me.Thankyou for the opportunity to boost and boast...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGood local coffee shop. During the pandemic they added to-go ordering through an app now called Odeko. It works well enough, although there is no way to order a 2% latte. No doubt the app needs to make room for all the new low-nutrition options such as "oat milk". Also, it has a proprietary wallet that it nags you to use instead of Google or Apple Pay. But these are app issues that local coffee shops like Kahwa have no control over.
Having said that, if you do the right thing and order with the app to avoid crowding inside the store, you may find yourself waiting a long time as walk-in orders are served first. Also, since the app doesn't reliably notify you when your order is ready, you will need to keep going inside to check anyway. A to-go shelf was recently added that could help reduce the number of people crowding the bar. But sometimes to-go orders still show up on the bar. So, now you have two places to check (three if you count the hope for app notification).
These are minor things. But predictability is important for a coffee shop. Being able to place an online order, expect it to be processed in the same queue as meat-body orders, knowing when it's done and having an idea where it will show up could lead to a better experience for customers and baristas.
Seating inside & out is "narrow". Outside can be exposed during spring and summer when the sun is further north and there is little shade from the building. I believe Kahwa could create a great social experience similar to nearby Craft Kafe if they could find a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis shop is amazing. The Manager, Chris does an excellent job of orchestrating his VERY friendly & talented staff. Aside from being a very talented barista, Chris is not afraid to get in there to do the heavy lifting - cleaning up & organizing - all the things required to run a business. BUT in addition to all that, he sets the tone of this particular Kahwa Coffee location by being very attentive, friendly, engaging and genuinely caring about all his customers, first-timers and regulars alike. Heck - Iād come here for the customer service alone! But whatās the big draw for me? TASTE! Long-pulled shots. Yummy espresso. GREAT coffee. (Their motto is āGood Coffeeā - thatās only part of it folks. They have āGreat Coffee!ā) For well over a decade Iāve come here nearly every day when Iām in town - at different times, morning, afternoon & last call of the day. Itās the same every time I come. These good folks do āconsistentā consistently! Wonderful, caring, talented baristas. Excellent leadership in Mr. Manager, Chris. Excellent espresso. Wonderful neighborhood vibe. (Iāve established many lasting friendships over the past 13 years.) Everyone is welcome here - young & old, business peeps & homeless, gay or straight, fancy & not so fancy, dogs, dog owners and dog-less. But above all, what has made this coffee shop my go-to for all these years? Kahwa North does āGood Coffee.ā Make that...
