We stopped in, on my (very soon-to-be) wife's insistance & recommendation, as she's eaten there many times previously and loved it every time. Well, she was right on the money (like she generally is, especially when it comes to food, lol). Funny enough, I'd lived only 3 blocks from the place just a couple of years ago, passed by it a million times, always telling myself to stop in and try it... Despite being an expertat telling myself to do things, Im only semi-pro when it comes to listening to myself, lol. We'd been downtown getting our engagement pics shot, and once finished we (and our 6.5yr old son) were starving and good thing because the food here is not only delicious but plentiful to boot! We (her and I) started w/a fish spread appitizer which was made w/some kind of delicious white fish that I cant remember the name of at the moment, but take it from a guy that's not normally in to fish spreads, this shit was GUCCI (that means "really, really good," for those that only listen to country, rock, classical, edm... Basically anyone of my non-hip-hop listening, pasty-skinned brethren). I drank bottomless mimosa's, since she was driving, and at a cost of $12 it's a steal considering that a single one is $7. She had a turkeyand artichome heart sandwhich and I tried the chicken cordon blue sandie on fresh croissant, and both of out meals were flavorful, huge and came w/some fresh side-salads (only knock on this place is their lack offrench fries). Our son had a 10inch flatbread pepperoni pizza and loved every bite. This place is reasonably priced but a bargain for the quality of food, we'll definitely be hitting it up again, so you should give it a try as well because you wont leave dissappointed (and if you do, well, I don't know maybe you've got nad...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSeriously, don't bother anymore, has not been the same for a few years now unfortunately. I figured let me give it yet another shot, what a bust! Wasn't even that busy, seats available at the bar, sat there for 12 mins w/not a single acknowledgement, not even a hello, finally get a drink, then off she was again not even giving me a chance to ask for a menu, disappearing out back bringing food back and forth to bar tables, no one behind the bar at all for another 10 mins, still no menu. 5 mins later I get a menu after she asks other patrons that newly came in... I quickly know what I want, but she disappeared again, are you kidding! This time she wasn't even waiting tables, literally gone, no one behind the bar for 15 mins. People at the tables came to the bar, everyone saying where is the staff? Then a new guy came on finally but it took another 5 mins to flag him down just to get a check and get the hell out of there. NEVER AGAIN!!! Other patrons didn't even bother ordering food and settled on just a cocktail then leaving.
Vacant owner, staff doesn't care and has attitude more times than not, always understaffed, and just take a peek in the side door off the sidewalk to get a glimpse of how disgustingly dirty the kitchen is. Don't know how they still exist or why anyone would support such...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe food I sampled was quite nice, and noticeable were innovative twists on some old classics. A ( Mr. ) Hand done pie from next door, always a great Spicoli option; " Right here, Dude!". Plenty of suds choices to fill a 7-game series w/o a repeat. The well-traveled owner has now been able to realize HIS vision of what a pub/ eatery might be now, time removed from some constraints necessarily bound by historical success to that which his previous endeavor required to fulfill expectations established, not unsatisfingly established by a brisk, beach-going tourist base, yet pigeon holed to conform to that tried and true formula visitors had come to expect from the Pass-a-Grille landmark where said owner had the good sense to expand THE bar there. His current partner at NE- Tav, a wise recruit from the old school. Sadly, current bartenders at the Tavern can't hold a candle to his team from the beach behind the bar. The wit and banter reflecting this owner in mention would do well to be reassembled at the Tavern. If only. The old guard matched with this more evolved endeavor could very likely be the alchemical mixture that this long-time pub crawler could envision gilting covers of local and regional "Where to Eat and Drink" mags. Find the All...
