When most people think of Cracker Barrel, they think of a quaint old-time restaurant and gift shop combination. However, the new GM in the St. Robert branch has instead chosen to create a most excellent training simulation that prepares participants for the deprivation and suffering following the collapse of civil society we all know is coming. I've heard his name is Vincent, but it's quite obvious he has been thoroughly trained in the operations of the Soviet penal system, so I suspect his real name is probably Vasiliy or Vladimir, or whatever. Regardless, the training I received during my most recent visit has molded me into a hardened survivor, able to operate in the fiercest imaginable post-apocalyptic hellscape.
Upon entering this modern Gulag, one is immediately struck by the sense of isolation and loneliness resulting from the total lack of other customers. The training received here is not for the weak, and Vincent (or Vyacheslav, or whatever) has done an excellent job of creating an environment where only the strong survive.
After being seated, I received my ration of silverware and immediately noticed the hard water spots covering each piece. Not softening the water is a brilliant move, because soft water is for soft people. Soft water weakens the constitution. Soft water is for sissies. Some of the spots may also have been from the tears of the kitchen and wait staff, which is also as it should be. Ruling with an iron fist is the only way to ensure order in the post-apocalyptic society.
After being served my coffee, I noted that my silverware ration was missing a spoon. This provided me the opportunity to practice my survival skills by stirring my coffee with a knife LIKE A TOTAL COMMANDO. Withholding spoons is critical to the successful formation of the hardened survivor. Spoons are the weakest of the utensils. Spoons are only used by the weak. Fear me, you soft and weak users of spoons!
In summary, I would like to thank Vincent (or Viktor, or whatever) for this most excellent preparation for the coming breakdown of society. Thanks to his training program, I have no fear of suffering or deprivation, and I now know I will be among...
Read moreToday I took my adopt-a-mom out for a girls day. I actually work at this CB, and was on vacation. I know enough about the staff to understand there are Many challenges. The food was just ok, but took an unimaginable amount of time to receive. I saw 3 of the management team pass through, and only one was responsive when I approached the kitchen for a to go box, thank you William.
It was very apparent that the service staff was too busy to give service, but this is not an uncommon event. I knew the things that took her a way from service. No busser, no salad person, no to go person to answer phones or bag up orders, thankfully there WAS a host, but it's questionable if she even had a dishwasher today from the Lack Of Ability To SERVE today... The company and management team is surely lacking when you decide during a pandemic to open up to 50% capacity and only staff it 20%.. Servers suffer and the public abuses servers gratuity.. Not My Server.. I took care of her, because I KNOW the company isn't... Just sad. Tomorrow I'll take out two more adopt-a-moms and my Own mother for another girls day.. We will visit el jimadors. Not going to risk where I work again for satisfaction.
I don't dislike the company, my Uncle Herschel must be turning in his grave for what current management is doing to it...
I am embarrassed and looking for different employment.. And they told me that Just because I said that.. Once I come off vacation, they accept my resignation. Sigh.. Really? Ok.. I didn't resign, didn't give my 2 weeks notice, but O.K...
So.. What happened is this.. I called home office because apparently I had too many drinks and told the New absorbed regional manager off on a voicemail.. I'm sure.. That although he didn't appreciate it.. It was comical enough for him To Get It...
Doesn't matter what corporate wants...
The ONLY Thing that matters Is What GUESTS WANT...
And even after the company saying they were good with parting ways with me..
I am just still sorry for the community I know that has supported this business.. And I had to watch these people leave.. Without food.. To dine elsewhere because the upper management...
Read moreI went there tonight. I will never be going back! This place is the most horrendous cracker barrel I have been to. Food was cold, waitress was slow and made a rude comment and some unknown object was found in my husband's food. I just wrote a review on Cracker Barrels website as well but will share it here too. My waitress was slow, she just kind of dawdled around. When we were done with our appetizers, we stacked our plates and put them to the edge of the table. She came by 3 times and never took them. Then she messed up my drink order. She brought my husband cherry coke and put down another coke. Said that she didn't remember which one was cherry so she brought them both. I told her that I didn't order a coke, she just laughed and asked what it was I asked for--water. Then we placed our order and waited about 20 minutes for our food, an okay wait time, except it was basically empty. I had my 10 mo son with me and had ordered him some mashed potatoes (this is relevant, I promise). When she had brought our food, she made sure to tell me that she had placed the mashed potatoes on my dish because 'clearly I would be the one to feed him'. I thought that was a little rude, offensive and presumptuous of her. My husband and I ordered the same thing- stuffed cheesecake pancakes. Mine were delicious....until I lost my appetite once my husband (halfway through) found an unknown object in his pancake filling. It was greyish black, at first he thought it was a tiny piece of mushroom.....until he saw that it stretched. Have no idea what it could even be. Once we got the check, we let our waitress know about the mysterious object in his food and all she did was say sorry. Didn't offer to have the cooks make him a new meal or take it off of the ticket. Now I understand that we let her know when she had brought the check...but that was the first time we had seen her since she dropped off our food. And this, all of this, is why I won't be dining at this particular Cracker Barrel again. This is not the first bad experience we have had....but it will...
