After living in St. Robert for about a year, we've come to recognize a pattern: because of the town's proximity to the freeway, many restaurants seem to cater to one-time travelers rather than returning locals. That economic reality shapes the experience—at too many places, food quality is low, customer service is indifferent or outright rude, and there’s little incentive to improve. We've had enough bad experiences at Panera Bread, Burger King, and Ocean Buffet here that we've stopped going entirely.
But Jimmy John’s is the exception.
This drive-thru sandwich shop has become one of our absolute favorite spots in town—not because it’s fancy, but because it gets the fundamentals right. The sandwiches are consistently delicious, and the bread in particular is addictive: soft, chewy, flavorful, and always fresh. It’s simple food done very well.
What truly sets this Jimmy John’s apart, though, is the consistent courtesy and professionalism of the staff. Every time we’ve needed help—whether asking for a substitution, clarification, or even just a moment of patience—we’ve been met with kindness and respect. That’s a rare thing in this town.
Another standout detail: there’s no push for tipping. No guilt-laden kiosks preloading 20% gratuities. No passive-aggressive tip jars. And when we do offer a tip because the service genuinely deserves it, the staff is visibly surprised and sincerely grateful. It’s clear they’re just doing a good job because that’s how they run their business—not because they expect extra money for basic decency.
If you’re someone spending money in St. Robert and getting let down at other restaurants, I’d suggest moving your dollars over to Jimmy John’s. They’ve earned our loyalty through great food, solid service, and a refreshing lack of the entitlement we’ve seen elsewhere.
Support places that treat people well. Jimmy...
Read moreNew Review (7/10/23) I don't know who these young kids are that 'run' this store but there is no way that they take their job seriously or care about what they are doing! Every single time I come in and they're working, there's something wrong with the sandwiches. Today, I bit into my sandwich and had a funky taste. I lifted the bread and there was old brown slimey lettuce which was very bitter. How hard is it to see that your lettuce is browning and change it out?? I've about had it with this store. The only time that this place is ran properly is when the older female manager is working, because she cares. She isn't just sitting around checking her phone or gossiping like the younger kids. This is ridiculous! Unimpressed and unsatisfied to say the least! Picture attached from today's visit.
I love Jimmy John's! This place is wonderful and I always look forward to picking it up. My 6 year old loves the little John's and looks forward to eating those and I'm thrilled because it is a better and healthier choice than McDonald's! The only thing I am 'unhappy' about is this particular store always....and I mean always forgets something. When I order online they always forget one of the toppings. By the time I get home, I don't want to turn around and drive all the way back to have them remake or whatever they would do. So I just eat what I have, just a bit disappointed because my Jimmy Peppers were missing. Oh well. A couple times they have actually forgotten a sandwich on an order of 6 sandwiches. That I did come back for! The sad thing is they don't even offer you a cookie or bag of chips or anything. The offer would be the polite to do especially since I don't live...
Read moreI had heard rumors that this was the best Jimmy John’s in the county, possibly even the state, so my kid and I had to try it out. After an afternoon of chores on the farm, we decided to hit JJ’s for some dinner chow on the way home. Kid got the #1 and I got the #16. We both opted for the “giant” size because we were pretty hungry, and each got a cookie and a drink. We placed our orders with some of the nicest people this side of Chic-Fil-A, and went to hit the drink station. The cherry coke was next to heavenly. I don’t know what made the cherry coke at this JJ’s better than the cherry coke from the Casey’s just down the road, but it definitely just hit different. Turned around, got back to our seats and BOOM! Sandwiches were ready. I don’t know if the motto is still “subs so fast you’ll freak,” but if it isn’t… it should be. Kid and I each smashed half of our sandwiches and had the strangest sensation… we were full. From an 8” sandwich. Thats crazy. I’m a big dude. I don’t get full from an 8” sandwich. But like the Cherry Coke, this sandwich just hit different. Packed up to leave and Colby behind the counter convinced us to try some pita chips and hummus. I’m a barrel chested American freedom fighter. I don’t eat pita chips and hummus. I don’t even know what hummus is. But Colby seemed like a solid dude and he just had this look on his face like I should trust him, so we decided to give it a shot. Guess what… after 38 years on this earth, it turns out I like hummus. Thanks for looking out Colby! We’ll be back for sure. 10/10 stars, definitely give this JJ’s a shot. Worth every penny, and if you get the giant, you’ll have leftovers for...
