Dine-in Crab soup Crab cakes and fried shrimp
Today's culinary atmosphere in regard to customer service is very disappointing. There seems to be no smiles unless they're forced and a lot of times you feel like you're inconveniencing the staff by being there to get food. They want your money but please get your stuff and get out because I don't want to deal with you. This place, definitely pushed well away from that narrative, we were created with authentic smiles the entire way through experience, except our waitress, she wasn't rude, but it was a very odd experience with her, and her skills as a waitress needed to join a bit more.
The mix of that incredible experience with the entire staff and our waitress was pretty much how the remainder of the experience was as well.
Starting off they give you these very nice and well salted soft pretzel sticks that I really believe they need to make a mustard sauce to go with it. The crab soup, was good, a tad heavy on the old bay and not enough salt or other aromatics, the entirety of the flavor relies on the old bay and crab. For my meal I got the soup and salad which I got the all you can eat salad bar which was a nice surprise, I'll go more into that part next. My wife's dish the entrees were very well done, the shrimp was superbly crusted, nice flavor, the crab cake was flat but it is recommendable, the sides however, oof, the potatoes looked like they were going to have a nice crunch to them, but they were rather soggy and the broccoli seemed like they blanched them right before serving bring it the order.
The atmosphere, where we sat had a nice flow, and was very welcoming albeit a bit too bright. On the back side however, I got lost trying to find the salad bar. The back of the building had zero flow and looked very boxed in, it's hard to describe, there's just walls everywhere big tables, and the only sign that was around to guide you anywhere was for the restroom.
The price point is actually not bad at all, for everything we got (which included a lot of crab and shrimp) was only $60 with tip. I could give this restaurant my recommendation I just hope our waitress gets a bit more training, and they work on...
Read moreLast night my family celebrated my big brother's birthday @ Jo Jo's. I don't live in the area so I this was my first time at JoJo's. Unfortunately, only 3 people in our group of 12 adults enjoyed their food. My brother ordered fish that he said was tasteless. He ate 2 bites and no more. Everyone enjoyed the cream of crab soup. I ordered the crab cakes. They weren't awful but they weren't great either. They had no real shape and were served plain with no crackers or bread. they did come with fries and cold slaw. I asked for bread and the manager brought me a baguette that she found and sliced up. It was not toasted but it was sufficient. My nephew and his wife enjoyed the salad bar and their steaks. My great nieces did not like their fried shrimp but they ate the fries. One niece enjoyed her shrimp pasta dish. The kids liked their chicken fingers but what kids don't like chicken fingers? I inquired about a military discount and was told that they did have a military discount. 7 Separate bills were brought to our table and I noticed that each one had a different military discount. I asked what the normal discount was and the manager said she didn't know and she was not good with math and to ask the waiter. When I asked the waiter and he said the discount was 5%. I was surprised because veteran discounts are usually between 10-15%. Then he tells me that the discount was applied to each check. Ok, alright, I accepted that because was my brother's birthday and I refused to make a scene. We spent a boat load of money for some just average food that was disappointing. Even though the food was not to my liking the customer service was outstanding!! The waiters and the manager were very attentive and extremely pleasant. So Kudos to the JoJo's staff. If and when the food ever meets the same level of excellence that the staff displayed, I might come back. Please post reviews to help me decide if I should give Jo Jo's...
Read moreWe were traveling north and always like to patronize local businesses, and we’re hungry for some fresh seafood. Based on reviews, we decided to stop here. It did not disappoint. Incredibly impressed with the facility.
Walking in everything looked bright and clean and smelled fresh. Nicole, our hostess, asked us if it was our first time and when we said yes, took us on a tour of the facility. From private dining rooms to intimate dining nooks, to the main dining room, we got a feel for this wonderful place. Perfect for small intimate gatherings or large business meetings.
Something that jumped out of us right away was the wall of honor which listed the names of all of the locals who had served in the military and sacrificed their lives in support of our nation’s freedom.
The food was exceptional. Ty, our waiter, recommended the crabcakes, which is what they’re known for. Made from Colossal blue crab. They claimed it was the best in Maryland, and I believe them! Huge chunks of crab meat, no filler, lightly seasoned, just the way I like it. Also added a cup of the crab soup, which was absolutely wonderful. We could not have been happier. I’m sure some folks would consider the menu to be slightly on the pricey side, but I’m willing to pay for quality.
I also wanna commend Thai our waiter. He was attentive without being intrusive, knew the menu back-and-forth and was able to provide feedback and suggestions, and had a smile that just made you feel at home. We really felt treated like family
