Dubai Mexican Grill Restaurant — Restaurant in Salt Lake City

Wednesday night, 5:30PM. At my hotel and thinking about dinner. Dubai mexican..... weird name for a Mexican restaurant, let me try it. I walk in and see a night club! DJ stand, couches with rope barricades, fog machine, LED video walls with a DJ and dance music. It is all here, and classy. Pepe is working the restaurant and bar and immediately comes to greet me. I say, is there a restaurant here? He says yes, I have tacos, burritos, enchiladas, mole, whatever you want. He hands me a menu and I decide to try it out. Had the chicken enchiladas with green chile, rice $ beans. The green tomatillo & chile sauce had just the right amount of heat and was very flavorful. Fresh homemade corn tortillas, garnished with tomatoes, lettuce, onions, and crema Fresca. The beans had a unique garnish of tomatoes and corn. All beautifully presented and everything tasted great. My soda dropped to 1/3 full and Pepe magically appeared with a fresh one, I didn't even have to ask. Fast, pleasant, and energetic service with great food. What more can you ask for. Pepe told me it was a weekend club only and his goal is to mKe it a family restauraunt for dinner and a 21+ club after 8PM. I think he is doing everything right. $5 for a Kirkland water bottle when we asked for a glass of water. There was a group of 8 of us, half of us got mixed drinks and the others got shots or beer. It was $15 for the worst mixed drinks any of us ever had. We were told to find a table if we wanted to eat, so we sat down and one waitress came to take our food order and a separate waitress came to take our drink orders. Then a third woman came over to tell us we couldn’t sit at the tables cuz they were for vip only. Mind you, there were only about six other people in the whole place at the time. We told her this was where we were told to sit since we ordered food and she said “oh ok”. 🥴 when it came time to pay we had to pay for our food with the woman we ordered food with, and we’re told to pay for our drinks at the bar. We went to pay at the bar and the bartender told us we had to pay with our waitress that was no where to be found. They finally found her so we could settle up. They also had a photographer there and when our friend told him she didn’t want a picture he grabbed her arm and tried convincing her to let him photograph her anyways. Ok this place is a little different to say the least. When you walk in you will be clearly walking into what is a nightclub but upon talking to Pepe I discovered that it is a nightclub on the weekends and he is turning it into a restaurant during the week.

If you look past this, you will be pleasantly surprised when you get their food. He makes amazing Latin fare that will delight your palette and your mind. Pepe was such a pleasant person and an interesting person to talk to.

The food portion of this establishment just started a few months ago and I really hope that it can catch on and he does well because as I stayed and below their food is so good.
