Extremely disappointed in the customer service. We arrived on a Sunday evening with a party of eleven. But this is downtown Salt Lake City, which for it's high religious population, many restaurants are empty on a Sunday night. So we weren't worried about getting a table for eleven people. And as you can see from the photos, there were many many many empty tables.

So imagine our surprise when they lead us to be seated, that they wanted to break our party apart among two tables. They couldn't put two tables together to accommodate a large group. And when we asked the server, he actually tried to convince us that breaking the party among two tables would be better for the group. He kept trying to justify splitting the group, even though he could plainly see that we were all unhappy.

It's not rocket science. The guy actually had to go get the manager and get "official" permission to combine two tables. Why does it have to be so difficult. Red Rock made a spectacle of their incompetence.

Now Red Rock would like to have you believe that since they eventually got our party seated that everything is all right. But when a group comes in, stating that their a party of 11, and then you make them wait for the entire party to arrive ... you don't draw out the situation by then trying to break up the group. We stated upfront that we were a large party. Red Rock's response was to make us wait (which is perfectly fine) and then proceed to break our group apart. NOT FINE!!!

Even if the food is amazing, what do you think our group is going to remember? People go to restaurants to be in the company of their friends and enjoy a meal "together". Not to have their party divided and make this process so hard.

Now the manager has called me a chicken for posting this review. He thinks I'm a chicken that I wrote it when I was still seated at the restaurant. He said that I'm a chicken that I didn't bring my problem to him. Why do I need to confront him? I was the one that confronted the server? Am I expected to confront everyone during this situation? So rather than put the blame on his own employees and their his restaurant's poor practices, it's safer for him to divert the blame to a customer. GOOD CALL, RED ROCK. That's a really sure way to recognize and deal with your problems.

Congratulations Red Rock. You really understand what the dining...

I was a server for a better part of a decade..... With that being said, our server Nick did NOT deserve the 20% gratuity that was automatically added to our tables tab. We had a group of 6; however, only 5 ate, but I guess because we had 6 at our table, the tip was automatically added. On top of that, nowhere does it state that an automatic gratuity would be added for table with "x" amount of people or more.

We went in for good food, good beer, and great company. We left only being able to enjoy the great company. My husband drinks the beer, every single one that he had was not great, and tasted off (maybe he had an off day, who knows). The food..... He was craving a big juicy/messy burger and ordered the Red Rock burger. That is NOT an actual burger! It is a hamburger patty in a wood-fired pocket (after we Google'd that, a patty on a bun was still expected; apparently, they consider it to be pita bread). No juicy burger for him, no good tasting beer; either.

We did have the roasted Brussel sprouts (5 stars), and the bruschetta (5 stars).

I had the Alaskan halibut fish and chips. They give you a ½ diameter ramekin of tartar sauce to go with fish that has been battered and fried exceeding 2 inches in diameter. That logic doesn't make any sense whatsoever. The fish was flaky but was overpowered by the batter flavor that you couldn't actually enjoy the fish.

Back to Nick; he made it clear to us that he did not want to be there. He didn't make any effort to engage with us. He, on his own, came over maybe 4 times; the other times, we actually had to flag him down (he would be hanging at the bar talking, or on his phone) to ask for refills of the soda beverages, more beer, and even water. When we first got there and the husband ordered his beer and appetizers, we waited for about 45 minutes for Nick to come back, and I stated that we were ready to order dinner; by this time the appetizers had already came and were gone. Nick's only saving grace was that he took our orders by memory, didn't write anything down, and the food came out as ordered; even with modifiers.

Unfortunately, I do not see us returning to Red Rock, especially downtown,...

We went on a date here 12/29/23 and everything about this place is bad.

We arrived around 4 pm so it was not busy at all. While standing just a few feet in front of the hostess, she ignored us but looked at us multiple times while she was just chatting with her friend for five minutes. I finally had to cut in and ask if we could just go sit at the bar since she clearly wasn’t seating us any time soon.

We ordered a drink and asked for 1 minute to decide on food. 15 minutes later she finally came back. We ordered an appetizer, the special pasta of the day and lasagna. Maybe two minutes after that she came back and asked how it’s going. My drink was gone so I ordered another. She told me she can’t serve us any more drinks unless we order food. I stared blankly at her for a few seconds, trying to figure out if she was joking before I said, “you literally just took our food order a couple minutes ago”. Her response, “I was just letting you know”. More blank stares…

I am not, and never have been a picky eater at all. I can enjoy nearly everything I eat even if it’s not made or cooked well. However, the special pasta, which was angel hair in a creamy garlic sauce with shrimp was very runny, had almost no flavor, and the flavor it did have wasn’t just odd it seemed off. It tasted of old leftovers that someone spilled dishwater in then warmed it up in a microwave. I kept thinking I’m probably going to get sick from this. I could only eat a few bites. Sadly, that was the better of the two meals. My poor girlfriend was served, what is best described as, very acidic vomit. I am absolutely not exaggerating. The lasagna was so disgusting. It tasted exactly like when you get the flu and you keep vomiting and it’s very acidic. She tried two bites just to be sure, and I tried a bite and nearly threw up.

After receiving our food, our waitress just vanished and never came back to check on us. We had to go find her two different times one of which was just so we could pay and get the hell out of there. I will definitely never go back...
