I've been to this sushi restaurant twice now. Once back in March 2018 for a big birthday dinner, and again just for the hell of it tonight, February 2019.
The first time, we sat at the larger table at the end, to the right as you walk in, and service was absolutely amazing. We never had to wonder where someone was to refill water and offer us more drinks.
The selection of both food and drink is more than adequate(pretty much perfect) for what I expect from a quality sushi establishment. With plenty of options for those in your party that don't partake in sushi at all.
Tonight we sat at the bar and Luis was quick to welcome us and ask if we had any questions. After a moment of perusing the menu and making some inquiries, we had begun the first round of ordering. Luis and the rest of the team behind the counter were all busy, but never once made us feel ignored.
However, we already had three rolls and a sashimi in front of us before we ever had anyone come by to bring water or ask if we wanted anything else to drink. I'm not upset, but I just want you to know that if you are not the most patient type of person you may not want to sit at the bar.
I strongly suggest trying the poached Utah elk by itself if you stop in. It was the best elk I've ever had and I've eaten tons of the stuff growing up in Utah.
In all it was a nice dinner out for my wife and I, and thanks to Luis' warm welcome and on-point feedback and suggestions, we will definitely be returning. Sooner rather than later.
TL;DR moderately priced fresh food. good selection. great staff(for the most part). casual dining. don't worry about the suit and tie, but as long as you're not a slob no one will care what you're...
Read moreAs told by a 2nd Grader! "Go with Tsunami! Best in Utah! (4.5 stars) Did you ever try such a good place to eat?! I think that Tsunami is a great place to eat. You should first get a little drink. If you like it, get a medium. If you absolutely love it, get a large (probably not an XL too big! And I don’t even think they have an XL!!!) The little sides are great. Like the spicy tuna and stuff. You should also try the teriyaki chicken, it’s amazing! It tastes nice and bendy I like it a lot. I don’t like the ginger that much, but my dad does. I know I already told you about the spicy tuna rolls, but let me tell you a little bit more. They bring out a TRAY of all kinds of rolls. When you walk in, glasses are hanging by the place where you ask where you sit. They give you a choice of where you can sit, outside or inside. It smells kind of powerful and yummy. The tables feels smooth. If you think it’s a little too dark, go outside. They have a thing with poles that go up and then like a big curtain that is above you and blocks it from being hot (but it still is a little bit hot). I like that you get to have a mint on your way in and on your way out. My brother LOVES chocolate cake and he used to get it from Tsunami EVERY DAY so you should probably get the chocolate cake. The drink I normally get is root beer but I bet you can get whatever you like. They show you what things you can get. So put on your hat and drive...
Read moreUpon my arrival, I anticipated a memorable experience, yet what unfolded surpassed even my highest hopes. It was, quite simply, one of the most exquisite and unforgettable moments of my life. The cuisine was a revelation: each dish bursting with flavor, crafted with finesse, and presented with care. The dessert, in particular, was a masterpiece that delighted both the palate and the imagination.
However, it was the impeccable service that truly elevated the evening into something extraordinary. Sergio, Mikaela, Nick, and Kemis are the embodiment of genuine hospitality. From the moment I was welcomed, their attentiveness was seamless — never intrusive, yet always present. They anticipated needs before they were voiced, offered thoughtful recommendations with sincerity, and carried out every interaction with a rare blend of warmth, elegance, and professionalism.
What impressed me most was not only their expertise, but the joy and pride they clearly take in their work. They created an atmosphere that was not just service-oriented, but truly human — where I felt seen, valued, and cared for. It’s a rare gift to encounter individuals who not only perform their roles flawlessly but do so with heart and authenticity. They transformed a lovely evening into a deeply personal and memorable experience.
An encounter like this lingers long after the last course is served — a true testament to the art of hospitality...
