We ordered the organic matcha, matcha strawberry, matcha mango, matcha sesame, and the matcha ube soft serve! I was very satisfied with my visit, because I wasn’t very expecting much, but their matcha is definitely ceremonial grade and you can taste it! I rlly liked the soft serve though! It was so creamy and smooth and the flavors were strong! The staff were very friendly and even brought out drinks out to our table despite being busy!! The place is very cute and decorative and they played very jazzy and cozy music! Theres a huge parking lot in front and there’s enough seating to chill at if youre with a group of friends! Definitely will be coming back if im in the city :)
Came back again with some friends! If you’re looking for matcha, Matcha Cafe Kyoto will be the best spot in Utah! They use ceremonial grade matcha imported from Kyoto, Japan! Me and my friends really love their ube & matcha soft serve, and order it every time. We also ordered the Strawberry Matcha, Yuzu Hojicha, and Matcha Float. The drinks are so creamy and delicious and you can taste the matcha. Personally I would like if the matcha flavor was a bit stronger, but my friends really love this spot. The matcha float also came with some fresh strawberries, which was a pleasant surprise. The staff are so kind and patient!!! They bring the drinks to you which I really appreciate despite them being understaffed and so busy!! Today the parking lot was pretty packed, but there were still enough spots to park. If you’re craving matcha, this...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I have been here several times now and it’s definitely our new favorite. The first time was during their soft opening where we tried their matcha soft serve and guava ice cream. The matcha took me back to Japan - not too sweet, not too bitter, it was really good. The GUAVA!! So flavorful and refreshing.
The next time, we tried their passionfruit and black sesame. The owner then gave us a sample of their honey ginger to try.
Passionfruit was delicious and fruity. Black sesame as expected had a grittier texture (similar to other black sesame desserts I’ve had), but they did well in making it creamy. We were pleasantly surprised when they gave us the honey ginger sample! Reminded us of the honey ginger candies.
This most recent time, I got the red bean and matcha level 1 scoop. The combination reminded me of all the yummy classic Japanese desserts. You can definitely tell that they carefully craft each of the flavors and textures.
The owners are also so so welcoming and kind. Thank you for opening this spot...
Read moreVisiting SLC, we took the trolley to see Sugar House Park and stopped at Matcha Café Kyoto while walking around the neighborhood. It’s a quirky little place with a small collection of Japanese candy and an extensive menu of milk teas and smoothies. There’s also seating inside with a few small tables.
We were greeted by a super friendly staff member who was very helpful in explaining the menu. We ordered the Rose Tea Salted Cream, a Mango Smoothie, and the Milk Toast.
It took a little while for the drinks to come out, and a bit longer for the Milk Toast (which they had explained ahead of time). Both drinks were very good. I’m not much of a boba fan, but I found these tasty, and the texture was not off-putting.
The Milk Toast, however, was a big disappointment. I’ve had Milk Toast before where it’s caramelized on the outside (similar to French toast), but this one didn’t have that. I wouldn’t order it again.
Overall, it’s a cute spot with refreshing drinks, but not a place we’d...
