In my exploration of the breakfast burrito 🌯 in southern California I've noticed another Google maps category error, which is calling taco shops/taco stands "Mexican restaurant." Technically a taco shop is a sub category of Mexican restaurant, but practically they are two radically different enterprises.
A Mexcian restaurant is, first of all, a restaurant, not a fast food stand. Table service is normal. You are given or rake a menu. The food is served on a plate, with silverware. You can probably get a beer with your meal.
A taco shop/stand, on the other hand, typically has no table service, just a walk up cashier. There may be few or no indoor seats, and the interior is at best, austere. If you get an order for here at a taco shop, it comes on a tray with plastic silverware. The menu and ingredients at a taco stand are going to be limited.
Those are two different categories. Benny's has been around forever but this is my first time through after i realized they serve breakfast burritos 🌯 here. I got the bacon burrito. Read moreI have passed by this place a lot, so one day figured why not try their food right? Nope! As I arrived, there was a line of 4 ppl. I then decided to pass him by to obtain my original spot in line then was told by the cashier that he was there first. I have never felt such disrespect in a matter of seconds. I silently agreed with this rude behavior and finally arrived to the beginning of the line. I inquired about vegan options which the cashier appeared to not understand the difference between Vegan and Vegeterian options. I left that day with an empty stomach and a chip...
Read moreI ate here on July 20th for the first time from the explore this area on Google Maps and DANG it was the best tastin' Mexican food this side of the Pecos. Had the Asada Fries with the 4 Rolled Beef Tacos and they gave us bonus Rollie too. The best $12 meal ever & shared it with the Wife, we wobbled out Full to boot. Ordered a side of beans for late nite chip dippin' and wow the taste was South of the Border for sure. You can tell a Mexican restaurants worth by their beans (in my opinion). Came back today for more beans. Gotta check out this neighborhood eatery, also the Red sauce ain't BBQ sauce either and seating & tables were adequate too not beautiful but functional. Loved this place goin' back...
