Walked in today and waited a good 5-10 minutes before anyone in the cafe acknowledged me. I was the only person in the store and two employees were too invested in their conversation to help me. After standing there the guy turns around and finally rings me up for a latte. He goes back to doing whatever and no one makes my order. Again, I’m the only person in the store. As people start to walk in I go up to the counter to another employee and ask for an eta on my order since I’m in a hurry. I went there for breakfast with my son and found that it was overpriced for what it was. I am French, therefore I was expecting to get the kind of quality I usually find in a typically French bakery. I was disappointed as the croissants were like ordinary, large croissants, not the delicious ones I find in other French bakeries. My son ordered a savoury galette which was made with regular flour. A galette is supposed to be made with buckwheat, they should just call it a savoury crepe. There seemed to be no dining, just take out, everything served in flimsy paper bags and box, which made it challenging to eat without spilling out crumbs everywhere. About as authentic to French pastry as you’ll get, Parfait Paris is a welcome addition to the rejuvenated and newer Fashion Valley mall. Located near the food court, Parfait Paris has been delighting San Diegans for years at their other locations with amazing macarons, croissants, pastries, and great drink choices. I was in a festive mood so I tried some hot chocolate, wow! Throughly impressed with how amazing it was! The croissant was so crumbly and perfect, I felt like I was back in Paris strolling around at the Champs-Élysées. The pistachio macaron, don’t ask questions, just get it. Thank me later.
