I've always loved Firehouse. Before the remodel food was hit or miss but I always loved their mussels and the atmosphere, so I was super excited to check it out last night after the remodel. Unfortunately, it may be awhile before my bf and I go back. We ordered the mussels (Thai Style) and my bf the flatiron steak. When we got our food we realized we had no utensils. I couldn't seem to find our server so I asked the hostess. It took a few minutes before we got anything as our food was sitting getting cold. While I could have ate mine without utensils I wasn't going to be rude and waited for my bf to get his utensils. We finally get them and to our surprise they were a plastic utensil set that come in those plastic wraps with the single napkin that you get for takeout. Mind you we had no other napkins. So I had to ask for some others at which point they grabbed the cocktail napkins from the bar. The hostess at least apologized and said it was embarrassing. However, our server never came around in that time which would have left our food cold had I never gotten up to ask. Since my bf had a steak I asked the hostess if they had at least a steak knife since it would be annoying to cut steak with a plastic butter knife. She ended up coming back with a butter knife, so my bf was there cutting his $25 dollar steak with a plastic fork and a butter knife. Super classy...not (for a place that's suppose to be a bit classy). My bf normally does not get annoyed by things but this really bothered him and we ended up not enjoying our food or time as much. Especially, because the server was not attentive at all, and no one even bothered to at least offer anything for the inconvenience. Especially when our tab between the food and 2 drinks was $60, we deserved at least utensils and to not look like idiots using plastic utensils. Only one other group had them but the group that came in after that got the nice set with the cloth napkins. This was poor management and service since the establishment as a whole has been around for awhile and they should know how many utensils they need to have on hand. Whats funny is we would have stayed and ate and drank more but we werent going to give them anymore of our money. The only reason I'm giving this a 2 is because the mussels were good as always. The only thing is order the bread on the side because they let it sit in the soup so I could not enjoy half my bread because it...
Read moreThis place needs a clean up and an update on their information about their requirements to get in. Their food quality isn’t what you pay for! only good thing about this place was their free valet parking.
Very Disappointed with this place. What I thought would be a good place to go have lunch with some family members that were visiting from outside the country turned out to be very embarrassing. As we walk up to the entrance we are greeted by a bouncer who asks us for our ID’s. My cousin hands him his passport and he says we don’t take passports as forms of IDs. The bouncer then proceeded to say just so you know next time you can’t come in with shorts!!! Wth? You’re located in a tourist area right by the beach! Has anyone told this guy that passports are legal forms of IDs? We get seated. I’m waiting for my other cousins to show up by this time I had texted them to bring their IDs not their passports. They walk up show their IDs the bouncer says we can’t take these IDs. He said you can go in if you’re not drinking my cousin explains they’re only having lunch. As they proceeded to the hostess the bouncer steps in and informs the hostess “sit these two downstairs”.... my cousin explains they were meeting family inside already. They join us when we noticed another security guard come and stands right behind us like if he was doubting us just watching us the whole time. By this point we’re very uncomfortable but had already ordered our food so we proceeded to eat our lunch. By now I’m already upset because everyone around us was wearing casual beach clothing and I’m noticing all these things that were wrong with this place and I start questioning myself if they’re making it seem like this is a 5 star high end dining place. Why is there so much work to...
Read moreHorrible service! I was here this past Sunday for an event and I’m not usually the one to complain about service at bars but this one really stood out from all the bad experiences I’ve ever had. I’ll start with the good stuff: -nice location -it was easy to find parking -the venue is nice -the drinks are cheap
The bad stuff: -I was the designated driver that night so I was getting drinks for my friends and water for myself. I realized very quickly the price of bottled water depended on who was taking care of my order (the bartenders were making up the price and pocketing the money)
-the bartenders on the first floor definitely did not wanna be there as they had the worst attitude, which I don’t mind as long as I get my drinks. But one of the times I approached the bar, the 2 staff members behind the counter where having a conversation, one of them ignored my presence while the other one kept talking while making eye contact with me. It was not until they finished their conversation that one of them just walked away leaving the other one to take my order with a huge smug on their face.
-towards the end of the night 4 of my friends (we where a party of 8) went out to have a smoke and when they tried to come back in the bouncer non-chalantly told them that the place had “just closed right now” and that they had to go somewhere else. We didn’t think too much of it since the rest of us where about to go as well. However, while we where walking out I noticed the bouncer was in the process of letting in 2 blonde guys along with 2 blonde girls. My friends where 4 brown, sober guys lol. So, warning for my brown peeps out there, I can’t rule out the possibility that you will receive the same...
