This was the most amazing place I went to. I went on family reunion and the customer service was top notch especially as I had a group of 8. The main contributor to this exquisite service was a waitress by the name of gabby. She was so kind to everyone and especially my little brother who was 6 years old. I also truly appreciate her dedication to her job as I could see her actively watching her tables as she passes. If she notices something off, she would ask if she could help. Again, I would love to mention how kind she was to my little brother as it melted my heart especially as this restaurant is geared towards adults. I noticed all of this throughout the whole time I was there. The best part was the food as most of us we weren't particularly hungry but my little brother was literally crying due to hunger. The waitress Gabby actually brought out my little brothers food first when we asked for a cracker for him which made us want to give her a standing ovation. Once everyone got their food it was like the room was lifted ten thousand feet in the clouds. The vibe shift and even our socially anxious member of the group was smiling so bright by the great food. I also heard from those who drank the Pona Colada that it was the best they every had. I'm not gonna lie I can't even say what was so good but I demolished the food and my very loud family went quite and then everyone was as happy as if we just entered heaven. I would truly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a date location. Half of the place had the vibe of a party ball room with vintage walls and hanging plants and the other half was a vintage library club mix. Above all else the music was a bit loud but it allowed for private conversation. The waiters were very polite and there was plenty of double sitting. While eating here all I could think about is how much I would love to take someone on a date her. Please if you are ever in San Diego stop by this place was easily my favorite while traveling...
Read moreI wanna first say that my review has nothing to do with the food, but with the owner, Alan. Me and my friends had dinner Friday night, I asked for a top sirloin, medium rare, and when I received it it was very much medium well. It was no problem I understand stuff happens, but when I sent it back the owner approached me with my steak and then shined a flashlight on it and insisted that it was medium rare. After arguing with me whether it was medium rare, I showed him my friends filet mignon, which was cooked perfectly medium rare, the owner then states, "well they are different cuts of meat, they don't cook the same." Just based on that fact I don't believe this man should be running this establishment. After going back and forth he said that he would make me a new steak, but if it were cooked any less it would be raw. When I received the new steak, it was very obvious that they only put it on high for about a minute, because when I cut open the steak it was stone cold in the middle and I could see the unrendered fat. After I sent the raw steak back, the owner then approached me again and started defending himself, the behavior from the owner was appalling and I would never have treated a guest like he did. Multiple times he stated he wanted to "help" me, but if he wanted to help wouldn't he have had the steak remade the first time instead of arguing with me twice about an obviously overcooked steak? Again, the last time I came here the food was great, and I understand mistakes happen, but the owner completely ruined our experience and has no idea how a...
Read moreWow this place is stunning! I was looking for a good happy hour spot to hit up before a Padres game and I wanted something fun, not too expensive and close to the ball park. Freddy's is exactly that kind of place.
It's beautiful inside and there is some great mood lighting towards the back of the restaurant that reminds me (as someone here said) of a high-end strip club. No strippers in sight sadly but the servers are really nice.
Happy hour is DAILY from 3-5pm (at least on Saturday it was). There is a happy hour menu and all of the cocktails and food are a flat $10. Beers are $6 and a house red or white wine is $8.
Their regular menu though has great prices. I mean a skirt steak with chimichurri is only $24. You can get Filet Mignon for $40. Texas Roadhouse is barely any cheaper, and Freddy's is WAAAY nicer (but they do need some fishbowl margaritas with the kicker...j/k).
We ordered: Pork Belly Toast Mac-n-Cheese Popcorn Shrimp 1945 Old Fashioned Swifty Lavender Lemon Drop Kentucky Buck Strawberry Mule GoGo Espresso Martini
Everything was excellent. The Mule was the best tasting drink and the Lemon Drop was the best looking. Everything we ate was incredible. The Popcorn Shrimp was sweet but not overly so. The mac was delectable. The pork belly toast was HUGE. We could not finish it. In fact we couldn't finish any of the dishes and because we had the Padres game to go to, we couldn't take the leftovers with us. Bummer!
Overall we really like this spot and look forward to trying an actual...
