I have been to Ketch before, the server was very nice, food was good, that was behind the decision to come back. Was hoping to have the same great experience this time around. I did not. The beginning started off great, they sat me and my sister down, gave us water. I asked if I could order more drinks, the young told me very nicely that the server would take our drink order...not a problem. 5 mins go by, we do notice they seemed short staffed, that is also not a problem. I understand that during this time things happen, I work in customer service. A young lady starts passing ou menu's, she walks by our table, gives menu's to other guest around us, that arrived after us. Walks past out table again, but we didnt get menus...okay maybe she didnt see us. Granted we are the only African-American women there..but it happens. My sister gives her a few minutes., smiles at her to get her attention then after a while she comes over and says "oh it's only you two?" Then gives us a menu. If that was the reason..okay two things 1. Just ask and 2. Really?!?! After we get our menu we are still in a good mood, this is the only day we have off from work. We wait and wait....wait. we start to notice that other people that have come after us is getting helped. We havent got a great from the server..no smile to acknowledge we are there, nothing. So we decide that if a family that has just been seated gets helped before is, we would just calmly leave. Needless to say after waiting with not even a smile, the other family did get helped before us so..we left. So many times this happens. You dont want to make it about race, but, when your the only African-American people in a restaurant and your treated like that, ita pretty obvious. We will not be going here again, the advice that I have. I know your busy, I know, you may have eve. Been short staffed. I get it. But a smile goes a long way, coming by and saying we are behind right now but we will be with you right when we can. But to be ignored and felt like your less than others...
Read moreI recently had the opportunity to visit a restaurant with a breathtaking view and outdoor seating. The restaurant had a charming atmosphere, with its open-air dining and beautiful surroundings. However, I must express my disappointment with my experience, particularly during cold and rainy weather.
The major downside of this restaurant is that, despite its outdoor seating, the patios do not provide any coverage from the rain. Therefore, dining there during inclement weather was uncomfortable and inconvenient. It's important to note that this review is specifically for those looking to dine outside during such conditions.
Now, let's talk about the food. I opted for the spicy chicken sandwich and, unfortunately, it didn't meet my expectations. It lacked the distinct flavors I was hoping for and was excessively crispy, to the point where it became quite difficult to chew. On the bright side, the accompanying fries were quite good, offering a delicious and satisfying side dish.
The children's chicken tenders were a disappointment as well. They were dry and lacked the juiciness one would hope for in such a dish. However, to my surprise, the fries that came with the kid's meal were delicious and undoubtedly the highlight of their dining experience.
On a more positive note, I must mention that the pastrami sandwich was a hit. It boasted a harmonious blend of flavors, leaving me thoroughly satisfied. The pastrami was tender and well-seasoned.
In conclusion, this restaurant offers a beautiful view and outdoor dining, which would likely be enjoyable in fair weather conditions. However, it falls short in terms of providing a pleasant experience during cold and rainy weather, as the patios lack the necessary coverage. The food, unfortunately, left much to be desired. While the pastrami sandwich was a standout, the spicy chicken sandwich and the children's chicken tenders did not meet expectations. If you're looking for a meal with an exceptional view during good weather, this place might be...

Visit: On August 24, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. (Sitting at the bar)
I was visiting family in San Diego over the weekend, and I had an experience that I had never encountered before in San Diego. A male bartender and a female bartender were working at the time. The male bartender was very kind, but I cannot say the same for the female bartender that was working. She was helping everyone else and tending to everyone except for my partner and me. I have never experienced that in the countless times that I have visited San Diego. The only difference between us and everyone else at the bar was the color of our skin.
After 20 minutes of waiting—which wasn’t even the issue—the male bartender got our order and was awesome. As a former bartender myself, I could tell he was busy, working well, and still tended to us, while the female bartender completely ignored us. I have never written a review like this before, but the blatant disrespect and racism were unbearable. She walked past us numerous times. She took the order of everyone next to us. I was planning to stay and eat at Ketch, but after that experience, we got our drinks and left. We found somewhere else to eat. I will never return to that establishment. More than the disrespect, it was just hurtful to experience such hate. It's never easy when one person displays such negativity.
This is brief synopsis of our time and doesn’t include everything we encountered with her. I did not catch her name because even when she brought the check she didn’t speak to us. (This was after the male bartender left) We still left 22% tip because as bitter as she is I’ve been in the service industry myself and know that you have to make a living.
Regardless my partner and I made the most of our time while...
