I was raised in La Jolla so when I decided to visit town from Los Angeles to see some old friends we decided on Cusp due to the fact it has amazing food, unbeatable views, and is a hidden gem in my opinion. I have been here many times over the years and every time I have a great meal. I always order the fish entrée as it’s always cooked perfectly, but every other thing I have seen ordered also gets great reviews. They are currently doing work on the façade of the front so the views are a little obstructed by construction equipment but still La Jolla is beautiful enough it makes up for it. Our server was also very polite and attentive and was quick with the refills.
I started off with the baby beet salad and really enjoyed it. It was light and a great start to the meal. The whipped goat cheese on the bottom was definitely my favorite part. For my entrée I chose the fish of the day which was a Seabass. Seabass is my personal favorite fish and I was glad to see that this one is cooked well and tasted delicious.
This is a true hidden gem to me because most diners go toward the Cove area of La Jolla rather than the Shores so this would make a wonderful date or casual dinner option. It’s a bit small for a work dinner but aside from that I am comfortable recommending it to anyone for any occasion. They offer valet parking for the hotel, but there is a ton of street parking next to it so the parking side of things...
Read moreThis restaurant has an amazing view and wonderful renovations. 5 Stars for Location! We've eaten here many times over the last 20 years.
5 Stars for bar staff! The bar staff is amazing, very welcoming, professional and well trained mixologists! No complaints.
The Hostess (5 Stars) was wonderful and she gave us a great seat for our celebratory meal. The waiter initially was good, friendly and the crab cake appetizer was delicious! Then the downward spiral began. No second drink order. No entree order for 30+ minutes - we finally asked a busboy. Then another 45-60 minutes for the entrees to come out and when they did, COLD! This was an over $200.00 meal and we got late, cold entrees. We said nothing because we were starving at this point and didn't want to risk another almost hour wait.
Worse: the waiter never acknowledged that he's ignored us, was late or asked how our meals were. So we asked for the check and left and ended up ordering desert from room service just to get out of there.
We were their to celebrate our anniversary with no mention of it and felt very, very neglected service from appetizers on. We're happy people so we didn't let it ruin our evening but Sea & Air broke our trust for ever celebrating anything there again and we'll definitely caution our friends & clients - as we are locals. I'd go back to the bar only, too expensive to have another bad dining experience in...
Read moreI had the chance to visit this restaurant located near La Jolla Shores, and it was such a memorable experience. The restaurant sits on the 11th floor of a nearby hotel, which means the view is absolutely stunning. From the moment you walk in, the wide windows showcase the coastline and ocean, making it a perfect setting to enjoy a relaxed meal. It’s the kind of spot where you can sit back and take in the scenery while enjoying good food and conversation. I went there for lunch and ordered the BLT, which was prepared really well. The bread was nicely toasted, the bacon had a satisfying crunch, and the vegetables were fresh, making it a very enjoyable sandwich. I also tried the hummus, which was flavorful, creamy, and came with just the right sides for dipping. The combination of good food and that kind of view made it feel special without being overly formal. I can definitely see this being a wonderful place for a date or even just a relaxing afternoon meal with friends. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting La Jolla Shores who wants great food in an unbeatable location with an...
