I usually only write positive reviews… but the food here was really bad. We bought lunch sandwiches (maybe that was the mistake as all of the breakfast reviews seem positive). They subbed out cheddar cheese for american without asking us and the meat tasted like the slimy cold Oscar Mayar prepackaged cold cults from the refrigerator section of the grocery store. We also waited a half hour for it to be made so it was a bummer when we finally got it. ( We didn’t ask them to remake sandwiches or give us the correct cheese when we realized it was incorrect because it was busy and we had already waited a long time for the food.)

Edit/update: Changed to 1 star after defensive review from shop owner. ( and looking back at shop owners rude responses to other negative reviews). For clarification though I’m not sure why we have to defend ourselves.. we asked to swap the cheese out to cheddar from Swiss and it was instead swapped out to American. We knew about the wait and we’re agreeable to it…. but that doesn’t change the fact that we were disappointed with overall food quality when we received our food and didn’t want to add to our wait time for sandwich corrections. Customers are allowed to have a negative experience at...

I’ve been meaning to write this review for awhile now! The cliffs cafe changed ownership or something maybe a few years ago? resulting in WAY better customer service!!!

Years ago I tried out this cafe and the front counter gal was just very annoyed. Food took forever, it was challenging to order.. anyway, I empathize with people who appear miserable but it’s not something I want to continue to experience, especially not in the morning. Bc personally I’m not that joyous either in the am. But we continued to come here every once in awhile bc support local right?

Fast forward to the new cliffs cafe, we notice a new person at the counter who is super helpful happy and friendly! Customer service really matters! So since we realized it, we now get breakfast here much more often. We usually get the same things, classic breakfast cafe Items.. Cliffs breakfast, breakfast burrito, and kids pancake I also like the breakfast veggie bowl.

Parking is usually easy and Precovid it was nice to sit inside. They do have a few seats outside but we just...

Probably the worst breakfast experience I have had in a long time. There is a very limited offering for Breakfast in OB, I would skip this and go to Breakfast Republic. Condescending young female server, food is served in cheap styrofoam to go boxes with plastic knives and forks even when dining in, if you decide to ask for a water be prepared for a dixie cup of tepid water. Food was terrible, ordered pancakes with 'strawberries and cream', got pancakes stuffed with salty cream cheese, kids would not touch it. The eggs were no better and the bacon burnt. No service even though gratuity is requested at the beginning of the meal, and then you are required to pick up your own food and drinks. No restroom for dine in customers and no direction as to where to find one. One positive the donut shop next door was excellent, I would try that!.....Wow just read your response, I think your reply confirms my review!!! Fyi I am having a...

One of my favorite parts of coming to San Diego on a day trip is eating here. Ever since the first time I had Cliffs, I was left feeling impressed with the quality of their food and how delicious it was. Whenever I come, they are always quite busy which is no surprise but service manages to be quick nevertheless. On top of this, the workers are always smiling and upbeat despite the atmosphere, and very quick to give you anything you may need like a glass of water or some packets of hot sauce. This time I had the Green Eggs and Ham. I had not tried it before but something about it just called to me and it did not disappoint. On an everything bagel, it was one of the yummiest things I’ve had for breakfast all week. Though I’m tempted to try other breakfast spots when I’m in town, I always circle back to Cliffs because I know it never fails.

It's a small place with a delicious menu, also be ready to wait on a spot to hopefully open up to sit, there's also chairs outside the entrance door but just a hand full of chairs. FYI they don't give MILITARY Discount. Anyways the food was Great, my eggs were overeasy instead of OverMedium like how I like them but other than the 🥞Pancakes were Perfect! The bowl aka Monkey Business was great and freezing cold so be careful to not get a brain freeze !o! The vegetarian battles were good. The dragon 🐉 fruit smoothie was good, but it was to cold I couldn’t taste all the fruits so make sure theres not to much ice in your smoothie becuz tht can ruin a smoothie!

Wow! This place is a gem! FANTASTIC breakfast burritos! Got the OG bacon burrito with sour cream. Definitely need 2 ramekins of salsa for this bad boy!! Had to go back and get another one for my kids to share. My 3 and 5 year olds tried a bite of mine and then they decided to share one. So, one that note - I will say that the chilis on the burrito are mild enough that my kids would eat them - so FEAR NOT. LOL. Great burritos. Great coffee. FANTASTIC customer service. Thank you Andrea!!!
