My now husband and I only toured a couple of venues before landing on La Jolla Cove Rooftop. From the moment we walked onto the rooftop, we knew this was going to be our wedding venue. The views are truly unbeatable and if you are hosting out-of-towners, this venue is the most perfect spot at showcasing the beautiful La Jolla Cove beach.
From beginning to end, our experience with the Wedgewood Planning Team was amazing. Everyone was so kind and helpful throughout the ENTIRE process, from the first day we toured the venue to the morning after our wedding (our day-of coordinator Elizabeth was so sweet to hold onto some items we left at the venue the night before and made sure I got them back the next morning!). As I'm sure many brides can attest to, getting timely responses back is so important during the wedding planning process - I was constantly impressed with how quickly the Wedgewood Planning team would respond to me and how knowledgeable everyone was. A special thanks to Robert and Corina for holding our Details/Planning meetings and a huge thank you to Elizabeth and Fede for being the BEST day-of coordinator and banquet captain - they made our wedding day unforgettable!
As for the venue, the views truly can't be beat. If you love the SD beaches, this is THE venue! The Wedgewood venue itself is amazing and offered so many services (some were included in our Elite package, some were upgrades), including photobooth, lawn games, late night snacks, grand sparklers, and some decor items (votives, plate chargers, table numbers). Since it is a beach venue, parking is probably the biggest downside as guests will have to pay for parking either at the hotel (if they are staying there) or at a nearby parking garage. The venue is still relatively new so everything was in great shape although keep in mind that since it is primarily used for its beautiful outdoor area, there isn't a lot of indoor space so have a plan B for rain!!!
Regarding the "all-inclusive" packages, florals, cake, and DJ services are contracted out to third parties so you don't get to select who you work with. Even though all the vendors were great, there were some limitations (couldn't do DIY florals if you used the included floral vendor, could only choose from limited cake options, and other options/designs would be paid upgrades contracted separately with the vendor and not with WW, etc).
Lastly, the venue is on top of the La Jolla Cove Hotel so it is likely you and your guests will be staying at the hotel the night before and night of your wedding. Book early and reserve your room! We had the room both the night before and night of our wedding but we noticed there were also weddings both the day before and after our wedding so I don't know where the brides/grooms stayed or got ready. If you need room blocks, you'll work with the La Jolla Cove hotel directly to set those up.
La Jolla Cove and this venue will always have a special place in my heart and I can't say enough good things about them! We had the best wedding here and cannot recommend...
Read moreI could go on forever about how perfect our wedding day was and it was all thanks to the Wedgewood Weddings team at La Jolla Cove Rooftop. From the venue, to the service, to the food, to security everything was absolutely phenomenal. We had the pleasure of working with Casey and Mikayla more in depth, but everyone we came in contact with was extremely helpful and kind . Casey did our venue tour, first meeting, and was there to help us day of. Mikayla was our rehearsal and day of coordinator. The amount of support and care we felt was unimaginable. We felt so taken care of and heard through our whole planning process. Like most weddings, we endured our fair share of "wedding drama" in which Mikayla was very quick to de-escalate and handle before it ever even began to become a stress for us. They were very intentional in guiding us through the planning and the day of our wedding, it made everything so stress free. The venue was absolutely stunning and decorated exactly the way we wanted. The food was an 11/10 and the banquet captain even set aside 2 to-go containers of food for us to enjoy after the wedding. The transitions of everything were so easy and seamless. The bartenders were wonderful, and the drinks were delicious. The venue came with security who were professional, nonchalant, and very kind. Considering all that was included, I feel that our wedding price was more than reasonable. I even feel that we got way more than we paid for. Truly a beautiful and memorable experience. One thing I would note about this venue, (which has nothing to do with Wedgewood), is to stay in a different hotel! Though the rooftop is on the hotel, it is not connected to or affiliated with Wedgewood Weddings. It is completely separate and run by a different company, and it was terrible. So I encourage you/your guests to stay at an external hotel unless you are guaranteed a newly renovated room. Besides that, everything about our wedding was better than we could have ever imagined. Big thank you to the Wedgewood Weddings Team for making our big...
Read moreI truly wish I could give this venue less than one star. They went so far out of their way to make everything as difficult as possible so we had to hire an actual planner (who salvaged everything and fought all of our battles against them). There’s not one person who answers emails (they don’t do phones). It’s whomever gets to the email first, so get ready to do a whole lot of re explaining everything that was previously discussed or resolved or promised prior to signing. Everything the venue “comes with” was really poor quality. Namely, the food, the DJ and the Photo Booth (your photos are deleted after 10 days, so check your emails if you’re doing a honeymoon). Our “day of planner” was there for maybe half the day then swapped out for someone we barely saw. Beyond disappointed with this company and particularly this venue. The vendors it comes with are not really usable. Again, unless you’re okay with terrible service. Emerald and Ivy florist Michelle was horrible and had a wild attitude, taking my husband off every single email. 😂 the DJ was also horrible and even though he was instructed not to take any requests, was taking requests from the kids by the end of the night while we were taking photos. He was not prepared and played so many of the wrong songs it was just honestly insulting considering the amount of work we put into the prep. The only redeeming quality was the ocean. This is a great option for a picnic/bbq wedding if you don’t care about any of the details. The parking was also heinous so build in time for all of your guests to arrive late to your ceremony. Do yourself a favor and book an actual venue. Anything BUT Wedgewood. You’ll pay double for the poor quality of service and everything they lack, that’s a guarantee. This doesn’t even scratch the surface of our experience, but I can’t waste another second reiterating and making up for what they lacked. I only hope people can take this into account while making their decision, because you’re spending so much money, time and effort on...
