West End PB — Restaurant in San Diego

I was walking with some friends home from the beach and we decided to stop by west end for a beer. We walked in through the patio and I noticed that there was someone cooking something on the side of the building, I stopped by to ask what he was cooking. He said that he was cooking Philly Steak sandwiches, I couldn’t help to notice his lack of sanitation in his work area plus there were no refrigeration, he had some chicken cooked and it looked like it had been there for hours at room temperature, the uncooked beef for the steak sandwich was also sitting there with no refrigeration. Not a good first impression. My friends got a table on patio and I went inside to the bar to get some beers, I stood at the end of the bar for about 10 minutes patiently waiting to get the bartenders attention with no luck. I went around to the other side of the bar and continued to wait to get the bartenders attention as I continued to notice his inability to do his job. Finally I raised my hand to get his attention, he said something like yes I do see you with an attitude and said to me What do you want? I’m sorry but that is not the way you treat a customer that is coming to your establishment. Obviously this is not a place where you want to go get food unless you want to get food poisoning and not a place where you want to get beer because they have a lousy bartender who is rude to...

The definition of a dive bar . Dim lighting , corner jukebox , quartered pool tables and hot pretzel / quesadillas for sale if your lucky. The beer selection is great and the prices are as good as they get. The bartenders are friendly, but not too friendly, and they’re always locals . It’s s great go to for after work or before a night out . You won’t find anything you aren’t looking for here but you’ll find exactly what you’d expect . If you like a classic no frills dive this is the spot for you . Pro tip : 100 feet up the street there is a taco shop to end all taco shops called Oscars . We had a really bad experience at this place, we waited for over 20 minutes so we could order drinks at the bar, the bartender ignored me first then to acknowledge that I was waiting for him to take my order to just ask me " what do you want? I've seen you already. I said " Yes indeed I've been waiting for over 20 minutes" he just told me " yeah, what do you want?"
