Akhis Authentic Shawarma & Kebab — Restaurant in San Diego

Wow. New addition to the neighborhood Akhis just opened up and it is GOOD.

We got a chicken shawarma bowl and chicken skewer bowl.

Bowl comes with yellow rice, onion/tomato combo, and the meat. A few pita triangles are thrown in too. White sauce and green spicy sauce can come on top or on the side— we opted for on the side.

Rice was so fresh, veggies were fresh, skewered chicken was cooked to perfection.

Reminds me a lot of a Halal guys bowl— but the rice is way better and so is the chicken. The skewer definitely had better portions/protein so I would get that next time.

Seating: they have ~15 seats inside and outside combined. Bar stools at counters.

No alcohol is served but they have drinks like Poppi, Topo Chico, and glass bottle cokes in their refrigerator.

Parking: street parking only but it’s not bad at all if you need it.

Staff was super friendly. We walked by when they were opening and met the owner and he seems super nice too which is always a nice bonus to support a local small business.

Not a place to really sit and eat but that’s no prob— walk down the street to law st beach...

Hands Down the Best Shawarma in Town!

lf you're a shawarma lover, this place is a must-try. What truly sets them apart is how incredibly juicy and flavorful their shawarma is. If I could give this place 6 stars, I would! Came here after the beach and was in the mood for something healthy. I was talking to the cashier and they said it’s a fusion of Afghan Shwarma so I was very happy to try. I got their signature item the Ahkis’s chicken Shawarma wrap. So amazing, especially with their Afghan salad they put in there. Very good and they are not stingy about the quantity. I also shared gyro fries with my buddy, and he loved them as well. I also tried their hummus and you could tell the hummus was fresh and made that day. My other buddy shared a kebab wrap and a chicken kebab bowl, which they both loved.
