This is your hole in the wall restaurant. You walk in, barely have any room to stand to wait for a seat opening, b/c quite a few people would have been in front of you already.
It is a tiny place with about 15 seats, 10 of those are bar stool seats.
During the colder days, the window will fog up and upon entering, you get the smell of grilled/bbq beef and chicken.
Its vietnamese food, bu it has got interesting name. Such as shish kebob as one of the menu offering. It is not your greek shish kebob, its more like grilled beef. Similary to the korean bbq. It also has your five-spice chicken and the deep fried spring roll. While the menu offering seem all so very simple and innocent, do not let it fool you.
For instance, the spring roll, has got to be the best spring roll I have had in SF. why? well not only b/c its STUFFED with meat and veggies, the skin of the spring roll is quite interesting, its chewy almost like a rice cake, not your standard crisp paper thin wrap. I make sure i get their spring roll every time I patron Cordon Bleu.
And, really, do not think you can finish the whole entree by yourself. the amount of food you receive is UNBELIEVABLE. One entree can easily feed 2 people.
Go try and enjoy...
Read moreOverall: 5/5. If you're looking for authentic Vietnamese food with generous portions, this is the place. The space is smaller but cozy and endearing, and the staff will serve you warmly. Would come here again. Food: 5/5. We ordered the Spicy Pork Chop, Noodle Salad, Mapo Tofu, Chicken Salad, and Dragon Rolls. The chicken had an interesting smoky flavor and the mapo tofu was some of the best i've had. The Dragon Rolls are a must have - super crispy and stuffed with several kinds of meat. Value: 5/5. For just $14 per entree (as of Jan 2023), they give you an incredible amount of food. Every dish was made fresh. They don't skimp on protein, and unless you have a big appetite you'll probably be taking some food home. Vibes: 3/5. I have mixed feelings about this. The layout and decor is no frills and very practical. However, the genuineness is endearing; I did enjoy the cozier vibes, and I felt like I was having a home-cooked meal. Service: 4/5. Food came out in around 15 mins, which is very reasonable. While they didn't check in on the food / water during the meal, the space is small enough that they are always ready to listen...
Read moreGreat little hole-in-the-wall dining experience with good food. The meat sauce over the rice is interesting and tasty (sort of a Chef Boyardee experience, Vietnamese style), but I prefer the white rice with scallions that comes with dishes like the pork chops (which I've heard likened to jerky - in a good way). I could see the meat sauce becoming the type of thing you crave, though, like SpaghettiO's with meatballs (which I recognize are Campbells nee FrancoAmerican, not Chef Boyardee). The five spice roast chicken lives up to expectations. I can see why it's a favorite here. For me, the best items are the five spice chicken salad, the "shish kebabs" (really blackened strips of steak - no skewers) and imperial rolls. In fact, I give the prize to the imperial rolls. Crisp, bubbly wrappers overflowing with meaty filling. I've seen patrons shoveling in noodles that look really satisfying, so I keep meaning to try them. With imperial rolls on the...
