The Dorel Apartments — Hotel in San Francisco

Folks this is my first ( and hopefully last) one star review, all my other Google reviews are 5 star. My wife and I booked 2 days at the Dorel. The Dorel is a renovated flop house, in a sketchy neighborhood ( fyi I'm a born and raised NYC native). I had booked the Dorel through Airbnb. Our check in time was 3 pm. When we arrived at 4pm our room was still being cleaned. Also the Dorel is a walk up, ie no elevator!!! Finding our room was not ready, I immediately contacted the " outstanding management " of the Dorel. Zero response, radio silence, for 30 minutes. Our room was finally ready, a hour after the agreed upon check in time. While waiting for the awesome Dorel management to respond to our concerns we took in the incredible room. Folks, the room is TINY!!! Like TINY!!! At this point I contacted Airbnb to cancel the reservation. Not only did Airbnb cancel the reservation, they gave us close to $200 as some kind of inconvenience fee. To be clear the Dorel is a non Elevator building. My wife and I were able to book a hotel, but it was a huge pain. Also my wife is 6 months pregnant. Yes, when Airbnb prompted me to review the Dorel, I left a truthful review on a wack experience. The awesome Dorel management responded with a scathing rebuttal. Laughable, kinda of a joke. Folks stay far away from the Dorel, no elevators, tiny rooms, mean...

The Dorel is a lovely place to stay. It’s very convenient in terms of location, staff is super friendly and feels like a community. Whether you’re staying long term or short term, The Dorel is fantastic! Erica the manager here is the biggest standout!! She is such a responsive, humble, and kindest person I have ever met!! She really helped me in times of need and was exceptional at her job! So huge shout out to her.

Great cheap and cheerful place to stay. Nice staff, very clean and close to amenities and grocery stores. I’ve stayed at nice hotels that were, well, less clean and less nice. It’s been newly renovated too! Would recommend as a great option if you’re looking for...
