Made a reservation for my 30th birthday for 7:00 pm. We arrived at 6:50 and try to check in but the waitress said "oh everyone had reservations for 7:00, it will be about an hour wait." They explained that they are over booked and don't have a table. We wait, finally seated. Wait ANOTHER 20 minutes for the waitress to bring water and greet us. We ordered our bread, appetizers and food all at once when she brought the water because we thought we might not get another chance and at this point we've been outside freezing cold for almost an hour and a half. It took 45 minutes to get our appetizers then we waited ANOTHER HOUR before we finally gave up and asked the waitress if she could check on our food and box it up to go. What a terrible dining experience. The food was decent but the experience and service was absolutely terrible. Will not return.

Side note... the waitresses where also busting the tables and I never once saw them change their gloves. They were moving fast but picking up glasses and plates that people have just ate and drank from then delivering fresh plates of food to different guest that they are just about to eat from cannot be safe...

This is the first review I have ever written but I feel it is necessary. Hyde Street Seafood was recommended by our hotel. We made a reservation for our party of 4 and when we arrived we were led to a table by a young girl with nothing to say. She didn't ask or care whether we had a reservation. We sat at our table for a very long time before we flagged someone down to order some wine. There was no apology, the waitress just wanted our order. We were there to dine and begin our meal with oysters and bisque and a bottle of wine. We finally got that. We didn't get any other attention unless we again flagged someone down. We continually got up to fill our own water glasses since no one working there was willing to. Our entrees were fine (the fettuccine was wonderful) but the complete lack of service, and unwillingness to even offer an apology was inexcusable. They appeared to be shorthanded but at the same time the place was not really busy. We are not demanding diners but would have liked some regular service and attention. Sadly, we will not dine there again nor recommend...

Just had dinner delivered from Hyde Street Seafood House and Raw Bar. DISGUSTING is too kind for the food we were presented with. The fish wasn’t fresh, it was full of bones and not seasoned, the ‘roasted’ potatoes on the side were boiled and had not a trace of salt of pepper on them. The crab cakes, (crab came out of a can), also flavorless unless drenched in tartar sauce, the seafood salad was canned seafood and not even dressed! That’s right, not even a basic salad dressing!! ..... just canned seafood dumped on a bed of greens. Could you care ANY less?? Oh, and you’d think since we were having it delivered to a hotel that they’d know to bring utensils... nope! There is no excuse for this! It’s San Francisco!! The seafood not being fresh is just such a basic fail! And if you HAVE to cook frozen or canned, seasoning is a must!! Salt and pepper is pretty basic. Why?? Just why?? Dinner for 3 so bad it couldn’t be eaten, for the low low price of $130.!!! Save your...

An Old School, neighborhood seafood classic, nautically themed and spotlessly tidy. Coastal maps and wood paneled booth seating make for a unique dining experience, with family or out-of-towners. Prices noticeably reasonable for a high-quality meal. Choice of oysters on the half shell, freshly hauled from either Mexico or British Columbia. Nothing more than a squeeze of lemon needed. Shrimp Cocktail, perfectly blanched, served with namesake sauce and horseradish. Seafood Cioppino, generously portioned with shellfish, squid and white fish medley — served in a fragrant red sauce (similar to a Venetian busara with hints of cinnamon) over fettuccine. Only comment is the pasta could have been a bit more al dente. Located along the Hyde & Powell cable car line. Hop on Hop off while en route to Union Square or Fisherman’s Wharf. 5pm-7pm happy hour, where oysters come and beer flows at a bargain.

Food: 3/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 3/5 Overall: Standard fare. Not a bad place if you don’t want to grab a bite. Would I come back: I would if someone wanted to go there. The extended review… Food: Cesar Salad - 3/5 - Standard fare. The two person was a decent portion. King Salmon en Papillotte - 3/5 - Pretty standard fare. I’d probably say I could easily make this at home. Service: 4/5 - Friendly and attentive service. Ambiance: 3/5 - We dined outside which was nice. The interior seemed a little dark.

The food was excellent. All of it. I even had the banana bread pudding and usually I don’t eat dessert but I could eat that pudding forever. The chef knew what he was doing. The only drawback was that it took quite a while to get our food and we only had three dishes and there were only three other customers at the time. Also the server was the kindest and helpful too!
