TLDR... horrible service, average food (expected at a dinner), cool decor, will never be back!
Was really disappointed with Lori's. I was really looking forward to eating at a classic diner! I walked in and sat down at the counter. I continued to sit at the counter for literally 30 minutes before a waitress actually came and took my order. When I walked in there was one couple sitting at the counter , and while I was sitting there, another gentleman walked in and sat down as well. Waitress A came by waited on the the one gentleman at the end and walked away. The couple sitting between us got frustrated and just got up and left. Not sure how long they had been sitting there, but I had been there for about 15 minutes at this point. Another guy took their place at the counter. He was getting irritated about the wait when the waitress finally showed up.
I ordered a simple club sandwich with no tomatoes , and a Coke. The waitress brought me a Pepsi and went to put in my order. My food came out fairly quickly, along with the guy next to me. When the waitress brought our food she made it a point to mention that she was sorry about the weight and she was not our waitress, and waitress B was our actual waitress.
When I looked at the sandwich, I noticed that it had mayo on it, I then double checked the menu to verify that I did not make a mistake in requesting no mayo. As waitress B walked by, I said "excuse me, are you my waitress?"... to which she replied "no". Explain to her that the other waitress who had taken my order, had mentioned that she was indeed our waitress.
Waitress B then begins to speak with the hostess and the hostess said she would go get waitress A. The hostess managed to track down the waitress again to let her know about the error. I see them both in the back. Looking at the menus reading the description. Waitress A walks back up to the counter, menu in tow and proceeds to tell me that all the sandwiches come with mayo or some sort of dressing. I told her that I was unaware because it is not in the menu description. She continues to try and blame me and say that she is aware it's not on the menu but I needed to make sure and order my sandwich dry. I apologized and said I had no idea that it came with mayo, otherwise I would have asked for it without.
At this point she asked me if I even still wanted my food. I let her know that I was still hungry and if I could get a new sandwich I would still stay. She seemed to be irritated and snatched my sandwich and walked away.
My new sandwich finally arrived and everything was fine this time. From this point on my waitress then seemed to be waitress B who brought my check.
I should have taken the hostesses hint when she offered to take my order when I first sat down. However, she mentioned she could only take to go orders. And since I wanted to sit at the counter and eat, she was not able to take my order.
Sorry for the long rant but that's how it went. Would I go back again.......
Read moreIf you are looking for a great American Diner, I am sorry to say, don’t go here! I’ve been to many Diners, from New York to Chicago, Mobile to New Orleans, Los Angeles to San Diego and so on… This is by far the most horrendous American Diner I’ve ever been to! The place is a dump! A real tourist trap, run by Chinese who don’t have a clue how to run a proper American Diner. The Chinese host was more interested in her mobile phone rather than looking after the customers. This problem occurs more and more often in many restaurants, bars and shops. I think owners should put a ban on employees using their mobile devices once on duty!!! Anyway, The Philly Cheesesteak! This Philly Cheesesteak was by far the worst I’ve had my entire life! The meat tasted and felt like it had been in the freezer for the last three decades! The texture was like rubber and very hard to chew. The bread was soaked and tasteless. The fries were ok! And I must say, the waiter behind the bar who served me my cold beer was a very friendly person! Then I went to the toilets. My goodness, here you can see how much rundown and dirty this place really is. I often rate the kitchen by the look of the toilets … When the restrooms are clean, tidy and well looked after, the kitchen is usually the same…Well, If you’ve seen the toilets in this place, forget about the kitchen folks! And that’s the overall impression, rundown and dirty. I really hate to write bad reviews but this place needs a proper clean-up and staff improvement. Also the kitchen needs a proper chef who’s culinary capabilities goes beyond throwing food in the fryer! I‘ll skip this place...
Read moreWe stayed at the Sir Francis Drake Hotel and it was awesome; however, we went over just down the street to Lori's Diner. The food was the worst I have ever had. I don't know if it is because myself and one of my brothers got lunch instead of breakfast, at 9 am (they serve all meals 24 hours), but we both looked at our food and were scared to eat it. It looked like it had been sitting out for about 6 hours. My brothers potato salad was rank and I took two small bites of my California Club sandwich and it tasted rancid and I couldn't finish it, same thing with my brother. The only thing that was excellent about the entire experience was that when we told the waitress that we couldn't eat our meals, the manager came over and we did not have to pay for our meals. She asked us if we wanted something else and both of us just unanimously said "no" we were actually afraid to eat anything there. My other brother just got biscuits and gravy and he said his tasted OK. As we were walking around Union Square later on we both felt just sick, we happened to come across a Juicing place and we both went in and got some green juice just because we were hoping it would help us in some way. We were so worried about getting...
